Ability to disable the info bar

Idea 938 | Posted in by | March 17, 2010

It used to be optional, now I am constantly spammed about demos I don’t care about. I want the option to make a triumphant return!

I’d like this… it’s not a big issue but it would be nice.

Let’s switch this ticker off. It’s really annoying.

I’ve been using my PS3 for 8 months and I’ve never seen this bar :-/

You’re only noticing it because you WANT to notice it. I know how gamers have short attention spans, but you’re telling me that you can’t take your eyes off of a six inch section of a 40 inch wide screen?

And how much time does anybody spend on the XMB to really affect them?

My wife noticed it, oddly enough, so it’s definitely not related to gamers having short attention spans. It really is silly to spam people who paid for your hardware like that.

I believe everyone would like this feature to be implemented into the XMB.

Perhaps an check list of what type of info you want to see. i.e. Demo’s, Patches, Movies, or whatever.. you choose what you want to know about when it’s released, and not what you don’t.. it’s just add revenue for sony anyways.. i’d think that they’d want to tell you about stuff that you’d want to know about..

@CaptainAlbator

Weather someone can ignore it or not is irrelevant the point is you shouldn’t have to. No doubt it uses resources that could be better used in another area of the XMB.

Personally I hate that this is nothing more than Sony forcing a commercial for things I’m not interested in or know how to find if I want them. Its not like we don’t look at the PSN store every week.

Just more worthless bloat ware from Sony to try and milk us for that extra few bucks.

I have a plasma tv and I know the outer perimeter of the info bar leaves a chance of image retention on my tv… Please give us a way of disabling it… If this ruins my tv I will be done with Sony as a company completely! Plasma tv owners beware.

I think Sony may need this, as a form of advertising, that is, if developers are prepared and most-willing to invest, and if it’s not successful, as of yet, as this has been present for quite some time now, they may as well just make it optional, especially if it’s a non-profitable app for the Sony PlayStation business. :1
