Yes, lets cap all future games to only use 70% (just a number…) of the PS3 capacity so we can have enough cpu power and harddrive bandwidth to capture live gameplay to the HDD…

This is actually something they said we could do when they were hyping the ps3 for launch. It’s about time we got it.
I can see it being a problem for any game that taxes the ps3 to it’s limits but for most multiplatform games it should be possible without any sandbagging of the game.

It’s a cool idea but I don’t see this as something Sony should go out of their way to add. I doubt most people would get much use out of it.

Yea! Record Let’s plays with!

Yesss great idea and maybe they could be shared to a pc over media severs. It’d be cool

Impossible. Would need to much resources.

9

xEN7xASSASSINx  |  March 18th, 2010 at 10:03 am

well some games already allow it in there game(so it can be done via software) also just cause 2 is allowing video capture for upload to the web..

but even if its only 3-5 minutes clips at a time that save in your videos so you can trnasfer to pc for editing?.. hell even charge us for the functionality

phizzy  |  March 18th, 2010 at 10:09 am

With any game already released? Would require a hardware update.

spiveyrat  |  March 18th, 2010 at 10:37 am

With a hard drive on each PS3, I don’t see why this would be difficult to implement.

Record gameplay and cut scenes is a DREAM

Press a button in the XMB and the last 10 minutes of gameplay is saved to your HDD. Then an “upload to Youtube” feature. I can’t see this happening though unless you can use it in conjunction with Torne or PlayTV.

sony should release a add on, like the eyetoy but a recording device. call it “EyeRecord”which it let u record in game footage.

15

MarSanMar  |  March 18th, 2010 at 6:39 pm

I want for this feature a lot of time. <3

16

BULLETzNurFACE69  |  March 19th, 2010 at 3:33 am

yeah. I remember u could do that on halo3 and it was really cool being able to watch a multi-p match over and being able to pause and rewind and spectate from any view. the files were only about 3-5 megs per match too. good idea.

RoBorg87  |  March 19th, 2010 at 6:47 am

Great idea, i’m waiting for this since i have the ps3.
Shouldn’t be too hard, i’ve already seen something like this on the psp (FF Dissidia). It was a game feature, not a console thing, but still…
And other than record good matches, there are games you would play over and over just to see again some fmw HD and not just on youtube streaming and similars (Final Fantasy players and alike will understand :D ). Recording them would be a dream!

liquidypoo  |  March 19th, 2010 at 5:05 pm

It’s called a gamebridge, people. Look it up on Amazon.

It won’t help your commentary stop sucking, but at least you’ll stop pointing camcorders at your screen like idiots.

RoBorg87  |  March 19th, 2010 at 6:08 pm

Good example of talking just because you want to complain about doesntmatterwhat.

So you are paying another 60$ to buy an additional hardware piece to do something the ps3 could do by itself? :)
It’s like have a car and carry it around driven by a breakdown because you don’t want to refuel the car.
Kinda waste, mh?

It would be cool if ALL PS3 games supported it. To add on it would be cooler if u can use the PS Eye in conjunction after recording it to talk over it or even do a Picture-in-picture feature. Really cool strategies could be made to get those hard to achieve trophies.

I remember playing some cheap guy on Tekken 6.
He abused lag and swore at me constantly over the Mic. I saved the replay but his comments and the lag wasn’t evident.
If only I could’ve recorded and got him banned

23

playstion3man  |  March 27th, 2010 at 8:12 am

Yea this was announced when home was announced that you could post it to home. Why wasn’t it done?

24

Louis85ro  |  April 2nd, 2010 at 5:40 pm

YES I NEED TO RECORD MONTAGES IN HD lol :P

25

BalramRules  |  April 12th, 2010 at 12:18 pm

Thumbs Up, but this should be within the application side of the playstation store, and we should be able to directly upload it to youtube/daily motion/Game Trailers/Twitter/Facebook/MySpace/Flickr/Bebo etc.

And it should all be in HD 1080p, like it’s MAXIMUM and finest quality, plus it should be paid for, as Sony will make PLENTY of profit X)

strack94  |  April 20th, 2010 at 11:40 pm

This would be awesome and even it had us upload to a site and then redownload to a pc for edit(though still save on the harddrive) would be insanity. goddam we Ps3 owners are smart!!!!

Delvo  |  April 21st, 2010 at 5:26 pm

I agree, I have a great clip in MLB10:The Show of the Umpire getting hit in the face by a foul ball and dropping to his knees. Funny animation!

28

SilentStrike2  |  April 22nd, 2010 at 12:50 am

I thought you needed a video converter and use the mic on your PC to do commentary, but good idea!

29

SiLKK2k8  |  April 28th, 2010 at 9:48 pm

this feature would be great to have. If the ps3 can record TV from PlayTv while playing games, then it should be pretty easy to record gameplay by just holding down the PS button then hit record. even if the video isnt full HD recording, it doesnt matter if its a slightly downgraded video. we just like to have a feature that would make the ps3 do certain things the xbox cant..

30

Lapwner  |  May 14th, 2010 at 4:50 pm

yeah have like a 10 dollar download for the recording software. it could have like a youtube integration and automatically post vids onto your youtube. Sony would make lots of money!

Great idea, although for advertising purposes, the name of the game, and the PS3 logo should be put as a watermark on the bottom-right corner.

thedeathscythe  |  June 29th, 2010 at 1:07 am

Video capture cards. Record your voice over it after words on your comp. I do this already, I don’t want them focusing on something like this when there’s better and more important things to focus on.

34

rdmorris1234  |  July 1st, 2010 at 12:48 am

Love this idea. Please make this happen Sony! I should be able to make my own gameplay highlight reel. This will help with reporting game bugs also.

35

J6887189  |  July 1st, 2010 at 2:18 am

that is a very good idea, like having a built in dazzle or capture card in your ps3 and be able to use the new editting and uploader thing to put it on websites, such as facebook and youtube. but i think that would be really hard to do.

36

x_SolidSnake_x  |  July 7th, 2010 at 7:59 pm

Hell this idea would come very much in handy now that we have video editing on the system.

37

38

Arnald23  |  July 10th, 2010 at 9:21 pm

if they can do this it wound be incredible like that we don’t need a recording system XD

43

ROTF_NINJA  |  August 7th, 2010 at 9:02 pm

Everyone Thumbs up if you do not like the idea please still thumbs up you might like it :D xD

44

uktubby  |  August 13th, 2010 at 5:29 pm

This should come as an update for the video editing/uploading software that came out for the ps3.

45

Jeffrey-Berg  |  August 24th, 2010 at 11:53 am

hmm i got to agree with ROTF_NINJA make it being a paid service but not to expensive like €5,- for a year?

46

SpecterMk23  |  August 30th, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Why the hell would you vote no on this?

47

emw80  |  December 12th, 2010 at 5:49 am

While renering in 720p @60fps and above is quite a little workload, i dont see why it couldnt be done in say 480p.

Your PS3 is more amazing than you might think already!

48

arcain27  |  February 7th, 2011 at 5:06 am

How Will this Work?
Think about it… The only way this can actually exist is if a new PS3 hardware config. is released with about 1 to 2GB of Side RAM for the Recording and an Extra CPU or GPU to process all that video DATA.
it cannot happen with the current hardware config. because of its stats. unless they can somehow miraculously reduce the memory and CPU use of EVERY game that runs on the PS3. but thats literally not possible.

49

agzander101  |  May 22nd, 2011 at 1:24 pm

yes this would be very good since sony made it already that we can edit videos and upload them to youtube. all what they need to do is make it so they can record.

Poncho329  |  May 22nd, 2011 at 9:38 pm

This is a great idea that I think many users would use including me.
