In the Playstation store, it’s difficult to figure out if a PSN game is worth buying when there is no demo. Screenshots would help a lot. Please make screenshots mandatory for all PSN games/apps.

Don’t just limit to screen shots, but trailers as well. There are a ton of trailer and screen info released for games. There is no reason it shouldn’t be available on PSN.

how about just making demos mandatory for all psn titles?
3
anderpants | March 17th, 2010 at 5:25 pm
Totally agree with this.

ROBOKITTYZILLA | March 17th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
I would prefer a demo requirement like XBL but anything is better than nothing.

bokvamme | March 17th, 2010 at 5:27 pm
I agree that making demos for all psn titles would be nice, but let’s be realistic. It should be easier/faster to implement screenshots. I actually think the support already is present but it’s not mandatory.
Of-course both would be nice

Can we really buy a game based on it’s name alone? lol. Right now, we have to log on to the Playstation Store, check what’s new, then quit the PS-Store and open the net browser, check gamespot/gametrailers for videos about the new game/stuff you found, and if it looks good you can buy it… Would be simpler to simply add a video or at least pictures on ALL games and other things you can download (like themes, etc).

I think a few screenshots would help sell games. Publishers/developers want their games to sell, right? I have seen quite a few without 1 screenshot or trailer or demo. I’m too lazy to go and search on the net about what that game is. A title and short description just doesn’t do it…

Yeah, screenshots and a little streaming video (there are even some PSP Minis games without a description, that’s such a bummer when I see that!) If you let developers/publishers add content to their product’s PSN listing (and if you REQUIRE that there is at least text and screens for each product) I cannot imagine companies will not oblige to do the work and fill out their product page for us.
It’d also be cool to have user comments on a game or Thumbs-Up/Thumbs-Down. Or auto-Google search inside PSN (but maybe send a bookmark to your PS3/PSP browser so you wouldn’t have to quit the store right away, you could add it to your cart and then come back to buy it once you looked it up.)
…Come on, Sony, even Nintendo’s postage-stamp screens for games on their store is at least better than nothing.

wow just what I thought, great idea
10
Dandonian | March 17th, 2010 at 9:43 pm
And video’s and demo’s.

Roverxk9 | March 17th, 2010 at 9:52 pm
Agree – there has been quite a few times I see a game on PSN where I have no clue what its like. Very annoying, I’m not going to buy a game that I know nothing about.

KidCommando | March 17th, 2010 at 10:09 pm
They should all have video previews, not just screenshots. Come on, how hard is it to upload a preview VIDEO. Some games have them, but most do not. The Mini section is horrible.

multiboy2k8 | March 18th, 2010 at 1:34 am
This is a no-brainer.
Of course every single game in the store should have screenshots. We are a ‘visual’ people. We are gamers!

KyFoxfire | March 18th, 2010 at 2:46 am
Mandatory demos for every game is kind of a lot to ask, but screenshots should be required, I mean really.
Trailers are also few and far between on PSN and it would be quite nice to not have to run to a computer just to see an otherwise readily available trailer for a title just to see what it looks like. While text descriptions are nice, you usually have to already have already seen the game to know what it really means.

spideyal | March 18th, 2010 at 4:27 am
I agree more than 100% with this.
I always find myself going to Youtube, and Google, trying to find out what these games “play” like.
So providing screenshots would be more convenient. All they’d have to do is add a “Preview” option like the Premium Themes.
(Although some PSN Games have this option where it shows a trailer instead, but I’m sure Screencaps would have less of a footprint on the PSN itself).

MzC_BR | March 18th, 2010 at 5:09 am
The descriptions of games are horrible. Place screenshots in 720p and links to the games videos on PSN.
17
dazer666 | March 18th, 2010 at 7:02 am
yes they should have screen shots or a video trailer
18
Jack1982cp | March 18th, 2010 at 8:00 am
Good idea. I’ve actually written down lists of games so I could look them up on the internet on my PC to see if I’d want to buy them or not. Some screenshots on PSN would be helpful.
19
Rovient | March 18th, 2010 at 8:33 am
AND video please. Nothing beats a trailer.
20
andycapps | March 18th, 2010 at 9:20 am
Screenshots and videos should be mandatory. And demo’s in most, if not all, cases.
21
Drake70 | March 18th, 2010 at 10:54 am
The Japanese PlayStation store uses screenshots for PSN games, so why not do the same with the US PlayStation store?
22
amjr72 | March 18th, 2010 at 4:15 pm
Agreed. if we can’t get demos for all, at least put up trailers for them.
23
ExcelKnight | March 18th, 2010 at 6:06 pm
Indeed, Drake70 has a point. The Japanese PlayStation Store has screenshots of most if not all games and even some add-on content. The minimum is three across the top of each PSN game’s description.
24
radione | March 18th, 2010 at 7:07 pm
Demos I can see leaving up to the developers, but screen shots mandatory, if not gameplay videos at least, yes please.
25
ShosSofe | March 18th, 2010 at 8:36 pm
This would be a neat feature, although I can just turn around from my television and just search youtube on my computer……
26
Japots | March 18th, 2010 at 9:49 pm
JPN PSN already does this. Get your act together US PSN.
27
Zoryu_of_Setsuna | March 18th, 2010 at 10:51 pm
Screenshots, and Video clips of the game in action.

Quoting Senjutsa_Dav: “Can we really buy a game based on it’s name alone? lol. you said it all.. this makes so much sence!

spiveyrat | March 19th, 2010 at 12:45 pm
I can’t tell you how many of the ‘mini’ games I’ve passed on because I couldn’t see it in action. So yeah… a demo or trailer or something would probably increase sales.
30
SpecDotSign | March 19th, 2010 at 6:52 pm
Yes! The JPN PSN does this already. Why not in the US?
31
LordKaiser00 | March 20th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
I agree with #30 in that regard. The japanesse store feels more complete because of that.
32
starBlinky01 | March 21st, 2010 at 3:55 pm
agreed, I mean its ridiculous they dont give us anything to go on when buying a game. We all have to just rely on the internet or word of mouth whether a game is worth buying.
33
Phreak2day | March 22nd, 2010 at 7:18 am
Screen shots help a lot, a trailer or gameplay video would be nice too.
34
RaphaelDDL2 | March 22nd, 2010 at 2:54 pm
Screenshots or trailers!
35
Videmark | March 25th, 2010 at 7:14 am
nice one!!!!!! +1

Anagura-Raziel | March 27th, 2010 at 12:44 am
Does this apply to PSOne Classics as well?
I say do your research before you buy, know what you want before you pay for it. A quick trip to wikipedia or the boards in gamefaqs should answer your questions.
I think this is a waste of (Insert gaming company here)’s time.
I’m not gonna vote against you though.
37
Saboteurxx | March 27th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Yes, to the first comment, trailers as well.
38
AnXa | March 27th, 2010 at 7:28 pm
Japanese store has in most of the titles screenshots and videos about the game. Why not EU and US stores have screenshots in most of the titles?
39
themaze75 | March 27th, 2010 at 9:54 pm
Screen shots, description, videos, demo and link to web page. Maybe all mandatory.
So far, PSN has failed to sell me games mostly because of the lack of information
40
Reinheart | March 30th, 2010 at 1:42 pm
Japanese PSN store has pics for every PSN game there, only complaint I have on that one is it’s sooooo damn small I can’t see it sometimes and you can’t zoom in like the PS3 browser on the PS Store.
41
Takashy87 | April 5th, 2010 at 8:46 am
Yeah it would be nice if all games had at last 4~10 screenshots so that we can actually see what we are buying..
42
Stoleroid | April 6th, 2010 at 9:10 am
Nobody should ever say that adding something that is lacking (that many customers want) to help them make a purchase is a waste of time. Screenshots of games are necessary and anything that helps put your product into a consumers hands faster should be supported.
43
ItaChu | April 6th, 2010 at 8:26 pm
I would actually put a preview video instead like the ones that pop up in the Whats New area
44
BalramRules | April 12th, 2010 at 11:01 am
yh, and some trailers to watch as you’re downloadin it too XP
45
FrankG | April 20th, 2010 at 5:22 pm
At least please put a description…
46
recallsamemory | April 20th, 2010 at 9:22 pm
i think thats a great idea. i enjoy this feature of xboxLIVE.
47
Elvick_ | April 24th, 2010 at 6:40 am
Yes please.
Even Wiiware has this. I mean… come on Sony.
48
PrometheusZero_ | May 16th, 2010 at 1:33 am
Mandatory demoes would be great – but I think unreasonable. I think the store just needs to be revamped and have images and trailers, sort of like what the iTunes App Store has.
49
Stubs24 | May 17th, 2010 at 11:08 pm
This is something I’ve been saying should have happened long ago. I wish Sony/developer would be required to put the game information in the description just like the back of a physical game. How many players (online/offline), trophy support or not, and it should be required to have screenshots or a video. Its not like this is much to ask, you think a developer would want to show their game as much as they could to the consumer.

This is a ‘no-brainer’. Why this wasn’t impremented already in other PlayStation stores is beyond [...!!]
