Invite friends to play a game from a different game. Make it standard through the XMB, and not just certain games. This is what the PS3 needs to pass XBOX 360.

Some games already have this but it’s up to the developer to put it in their. Kind of like custom soundtracks, screenshots, and youtube uploading.

Wow, I can’t believe this isn’t standard. This could only make the system more fun to use, so why can’t it be implemented?

Diego_BC | March 17th, 2010 at 3:49 pm
Well, then should be standard!
“Yeah this and cross game chat” [2] (:

The problem is the games need to support it, much like trophies. I think we will need to wait for PS4 for this to be standard.

Certain games like MW2 already have this feature.
Developers just don’t use it. We’ve had this feature for some time now…

like everyone else has stated its up to developers and a good move to make it like so
x-game chat should b a premium service..dumbest idea around *in little girl voice* ‘i wanna talk to my friends while i play another game’…how bout u go to a bar or play outside with ur friends..talk about not having a life

My most wanted Feature but im guessing almost impossible to implement now

The PS3 doesn’t need this to pass the 360 (hell it’s not even remotely close, send your friend a message and say “Come play this game now homie or whatever the kids are saying nowadays” and your friend gets the idea).

Yep i want it more like the 360 then ill play more multiplayer on the ps3. Have a standard way to invite people into multiplayer games like the 360, allow the user to accept the invite from the msg simply put their disc in and automatically connect.
Its more convenient to have a universal invite system and a party system than dick about with different methods in each game. Look at Fat princess, you cant even join a game together you have to try and connect to a game your friend is already in presuming there is a space free!

this is something that should be available at all times similar to xbox, where i can invite anyone at any time as long as there online whatever they’re doing whether there on the same game a different game or the xbox dashbord.
i find it strange that this hasn’t been implemented already on psn it seems so simple

I’m not understanding what is being asked her. I’ve been able to receive invites from every game I own including the first gen games. If I’m not understanding what is being asked here I don’t think sony will either.
What all games do now:
Send an invite to a player, get a message on XMB, boot that game up and join that players team/party/group. So what is the X360 doing differently?

cesarale | March 18th, 2010 at 2:03 pm
Si por favor INVITACIONES ya !!! como en el 360.

jper007 | March 18th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
If it would launch you into the game, into the match you were invited to from the XMB, that would be great
15
bst10 | March 18th, 2010 at 8:18 pm
This would be awesome. Then you wouldn’t have to text chat with your friend first.

speedmastaflex | March 18th, 2010 at 9:40 pm
The PS3 is already capable of this, but like custom soundtracks, Sony hasn’t enforced it as a standard feature.
I know RE5 and Lost Planet 2 do this, and I believe MW2, B:BC2, and Resistance 2 use it as well, among others.

Every invite you send goes through the XMB whether it’s to a game you;re playing or not already. This is a stupid request.

BPatches701 | March 19th, 2010 at 9:14 am
I actually voted this down because it’s not needed. I’m sure Sony will look at it this way as they are smarter than the average gamer but the reason it isn’t needed is because they have in-game messaging that you can discuss where you are in a game which is not much different than sending an invite because the person still has to stop the game they are in and put the disc in on the 360 so it really isn’t that important only to people who think it’s more convenient.

There a few games that have this feature already but it would be nice to have this as an regular feature for every game.

great idea, just like cod mw2 on ps3, but for all games. Also let you join peoples session from the XMB when not playing a game, and instantly get into their game, without having to be in the same game to join their session like cod

What’s the point for this? You can invite friends from any game that supports multiplayer. It’s bad enough Modern Warfare 2 supports this functionality. In the case in being spammed over 20 invites from friends and joining it 10 secs later to find out the session is invalid because your friends couldn’t wait for you.

yh, this should’ve been the second most-up-voted idea after cross-game-voice-chatting, well shouldn’t it be?? Like, they’re REALLY REALLY similar?

NotExistant | May 3rd, 2010 at 12:42 pm
This needs to be implemented on the game level not the XMB level go complain to the developer of your game for a patch that adds this.

Finaldeath1689 | July 8th, 2010 at 7:50 pm
Sony really screwed up when they didn’t add these mandatory features right off the bat and by not making them required for developers. Psn is way too basic, even though they are adding new features, it isnt doing any good because it is too late and by not forcing developers to patch this in.

this idea just says something i can already do, ive invited people to play gh5 while they were playing mw2… whats this idea intended for? I want a lesser hassle to look at my invites instead of pushing 5 buttons to see them, i’d also like to join games in progress.

eliworldking2 | July 22nd, 2010 at 12:23 pm

Castle crashers has this, i think its developer choice.

Unseen_Soul | October 24th, 2010 at 9:21 pm
What’s the point of this…Unless you’re sending it so the person can join as soon as they switch games (assuming they want to) there’s no point. Hey, mw2 guy, here’s a invite to castle crashers hur hur hur

You can do it in Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Black Ops, what other games are there?

Djehuty-X | March 8th, 2011 at 7:48 pm
This is something I would like Sony to add.
