It would be nice for us to be able to communicate with our friends online while we are playing different games using our Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset.

its optional, why would you care about someone talking down your ear if you don’t use that feature to begin with
Its been on its way for 2 years, just release it already
PEOPLE!!!!!!!

Add it to subscription based PSN just for bitter tears.

That idea is useless. Can someone post this? I have already posted something. Post: Add Windows Live Messenger To XMB
That would be great. And even better; Cross Game Windows Live Messenger

Why don’t we have this yet, I though someone during the Uncharted 2 release was talking about this being released within a month. God Sony I love you but come on you need to get your rears in gear.

This is the PS3 for crying out loud. An amazing peace of godly hardware lol.

The key to making it work is to provide an OPT-OUT option for game developers. Let me explain:
By default it will work with every game. Game developers will have to do nothing.
But if a specific game shouldn’t allow Cross-Game chat (SOCOM, etc) or already has a chat system that shouldn’t be over-ridden (Bad Company, etc) then the developer can opt their game out. They just sent a request to Sony…and Sony adds that particular game to the opt-out list.
If a user tries to chat with someone playing those games, it pops up a message saying, “Sorry, your friend is playing a game that doesn’t support Cross Game Chat”.
This way: everyone can enjoy cross game chat. Developers aren’t needed to do any special coding. And nobody can cheat in games that aren’t designed for cross-game chat.

That’s good stuff dude.

They need to make this free. I don’t want to have to pay for the psn.

PsNsOuL | March 17th, 2010 at 4:23 pm
i would like this feature so when me and one of my friends are playing a single player for example, Far Cry 2, where you have to find the diomonds, we could actually help ourselves by using cross game chat
112
ZamagnaxD | March 17th, 2010 at 4:24 pm
Yeah, i’d like to talk to my friends while playing another game, but that’s not a priority in my opinion
113
ik_ga_je_slaan | March 17th, 2010 at 4:25 pm
This should be the priority for Sony, we really need this.

AztecaPride559 | March 17th, 2010 at 4:31 pm

this is uh GREAT idea!!

Liamario | March 17th, 2010 at 4:42 pm
There are people coming on here to vote this feature down, because they are xbox fanboys/girls.
There is no reason what so ever why someone wouldn’t want this feature
118
Detsuki-G | March 17th, 2010 at 4:42 pm
I think the mod’s shouldn’t bother to allow this. We all know it’s the most requested. We all know it’s coming.
119
xBuTcHeRx | March 17th, 2010 at 4:47 pm
Yes please, I’ve been wanting this so badly!
120
RuthlessEd | March 17th, 2010 at 4:48 pm
Detsuki — what a stupid comment.
The whole point of this new SHARE blog is for people to show Sony what features we want the most.
We don’t know the cross game voice chat feature is coming. Sony has never mentioned a single word about it.
This blog (hopefully) gives us a method of keeping Sony accountable. So when they release 5 more firmwares without Cross Game Chat, they can no longer feed us the B.S. that they’re “listening” to the community.

SCARFACE9O9 | March 17th, 2010 at 4:59 pm
I’ve been wanting this for so long. When playing games such as Fallout3 it gets boring playing by yourself so being able to talk to friends in the mean time would be great. Also i play NHL10 alot and when i play on versus i don’t talk but it would be nice to play that online and talk to a friend in a different game or what ever. This one is my favorite.

tvadolas | March 17th, 2010 at 5:01 pm
Seriously it’s a shame for PlayStation 3 this is a must have and i beg you Sony please implement this as soon as possible
thank you
125
kawaiigamr | March 17th, 2010 at 5:07 pm
its inevitable they’ll be charging for this…but even still if they start making paid subs without this, PS3 is at a loss, cross game chat of course much better if it was free, is a definite MUST!!!!
126
Bonaef | March 17th, 2010 at 5:08 pm
please sony , i have been waitting this since EVER ! you have to make YOU HAVE TO T_T . and if you guys make it free ,,, GOD ! that will KILL other platforms .
127
KilledInSilence | March 17th, 2010 at 5:08 pm
Why would you reach for a phone or a computer? that’s the point of cross-game chatting. You’re on a PS3 already, why not conveniently talk to a friend with a few button presses? simple. I want this feature, free or premium.. more preferably free please ;]
128
AlexPaTruco | March 17th, 2010 at 5:12 pm
Most asked for feature!!! Why is it taking so long?
P.S.
Make it free =D

karmatron03 | March 17th, 2010 at 5:16 pm
Not really a worth of time!! Its pure waste of time !! Why would I want to talk to someone when we both playing diferents games??I know one reason BRO-MANCE!!! ha ha haaa haaaa!!!:P

ROBOKITTYZILLA | March 17th, 2010 at 5:17 pm
This would also be useful for playing the same game online. Some games (e.g. White Knight Chronicles) has sub par voice implementation that does not allow chat during loading screens or if you are not in the same area yet.
While we are doing cross game chat, how about throwing in party chat too?
131
Caemgen | March 17th, 2010 at 5:18 pm
This is my #1 wanted feature. Just make sure it’s free. If it would be something that comes with a premium service, it would immediately lose it’s value, since… well, most of your friends WON’T have it.
132
Paranoimia | March 17th, 2010 at 5:19 pm
Not in the least interested in cross-game chat, as I’ve no desire to talk to someone playing a different game to me. It’s distracting.
On the other hand, a proper Party System – where your party stays together from game to game, and on the same team, would be most welcome.
133
lurkinturtle | March 17th, 2010 at 5:21 pm
this would be great if it were implemented! i see on here how there have been some who say cross game party chat caused lag on XBL…. well, I haven’t seen it happen, i’ve been in party chat and experienced no noticeable lag whatsoever. i’d like like to see it implemented as a “party chat” on PSN. also, i’ve only been able to talk in game and not have a voice chat w/o the stupid camera out of a game and that’s just lame…

Machine_God | March 17th, 2010 at 5:28 pm
I really can’t believe so many people voted no. For God’s sake, people…
135
phat-smurf | March 17th, 2010 at 5:28 pm
idk why people are saying they dont want it, its a great idea, and i hope it free and not just exclusive to those that pay for that upcoming psn premium service
136
BigBadBob113 | March 17th, 2010 at 5:31 pm
It’s ridiculous that the PS3 does not have something as simple as cross-game chat. I want to be able to play GoW III with friends who are playing GoW III and talk about how awesome it is!!!
Cross-game chat is a must! It’s the next step in making a stronger PSN community!

You can already do this: the Bluetooth headsets work with almost any cell phone. There you go. You can talk about what you’re playing, and talk without distraction. All without any PSN firmware.
139
nas2344 | March 17th, 2010 at 5:33 pm
yeah we really need this feature!

URGENT!!!!! URGENTE!!!!!

MakaiOokami | March 17th, 2010 at 5:34 pm
The only reason I’m thumbing this up is simple.
It’d be nice to grind on a 150+ hour JRPG and to be able to talk about different things.
Example my Disgaea 3 platinum was 300 hours of gameplay (admittedly I goofed around a lot) and it would have been more fun with voice chat.
Also when White Knight Chronicles is having a voice chat fail session (happens occasionally) it’d be nice to be able to use that form of chat instead to contact the people rather than listening to someone speak through someone elses T.V. getting picked up by an overly sensitive mic. Especially cause then I end up hearing myself as well.
It’d be nice to hear and be heard from them directly.

Yup, I want this. Or please integrate Skype for PS3

AmanoNL | March 17th, 2010 at 5:50 pm
Superb idea! Sometimes I just want to chat with a buddy without having to play the same game!
145
Comando148 | March 17th, 2010 at 5:51 pm
Sounds great but I don’t have the official PlayStation Blue-tooth device, but I still want to be able to do this. Its sounds Like a great Idea because this well expand the community and maybe a random voice chat communication would be pretty cool too
146
Rofldood | March 17th, 2010 at 5:52 pm
If this were to come out, the gap between XBL and PSN would very close to closing. I hope it comes out before FF14, it wouldnt be very fun to play that with no mic support.

Machine_God | March 17th, 2010 at 5:52 pm
@explosive78
Didn’t really see it until… well, until you pointed out. My bad. FORTUNATELY, my bad. And thanks for pointing it out to me.
148
nem0905 | March 17th, 2010 at 5:53 pm
@everyone who think its pointless or because XBL has it.
1.) Assume you are having a convo with a friend over messages back and forth and we get annoyed by having to press the PS button everytime to read a message. But you are playing online and you dont want to get killed or anything, CROSS GAME VOICE CHAT TO THE RESCUE~!~!~!~!
&
2.) Why the hell are you defending XBL on a PSN Share site!?!?!? IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THEN GO BACK TO IT!!! Also, no we dont want it just because ur…system of preference…has it, we would like an option to chat with our PSN buddies even though (for example) im playing MW2 and they are playing BFBC2!

Be better named as universal call, so you can talk whatever your doing and it stays on when switching between things

Crystastrophe | March 17th, 2010 at 5:55 pm
Yes, we really need this, especially for games like Demon’s Souls.
