Konami released the Essential Collection prior to MGS4′s release. Doubt they’ll do another release, having to go back in and getting the games coded/updated in a manner similar to God of War. They could probably see what the studio that did the God of War Collection are up to and have them handle it.

And yeah I know about the essential collection, but a lot of folks can’t play that on the ps3.

The essential collection is only in the US, and NTSC format, meaning anyone outside of the US can’t really play it. I thik they should just put it all on a blu ray, even if they can’t be bothered making it HD. because i;m in australia, and really would like to play past MGS’s, but my ps2 is gone, and i have a slim. It’s pretty reasonable to ask to just shove it on a blu ray.

I think the idea with this is to have a one stop place to make our requests regarding all things playstation related so they can approach their partners, like Konami, about things fans want.

OMG that’s a great idea, since the realese of the god of war collection i was hoping for a mgs collection, those games are EPIC my favorite game series, it´ll be really nice to have them since most of the ps3 mdels don’t come with ps2 compatibility

Yes, just like the God of War Remastered Collection.

Except this Remastered Collection, needs to have a suped up version of “Twin Snakes” in place though (leave the original as an unlockable). “Twin Snakes” would be more “flush” with “Sons, and Snake Eater.”

Nintendo DOES NOT OWN Metal Gear, so I can’t see how this couldn’t happen…. and if Konami could polish up the adequate job, Silicon Knights did even better.

SK is dead anyway…. MGS 1-3 in 1080p, and 60 fps!!!! w/ Trophy support!!

Oh, and just to be clear, I would be classified as a “New Fan”. My first exposure to MGS was the MGS4 demo available once I bought my Playstation. It made me really excited but as I started reading about the series it became clear that I ought to start from the beginning.

So I’ve patiently waited for this ever since.

Konami doesnt even have to update the games graphics. Bluepoint devs were the ones that decided to make the previous 2 God of War games looks nice for their PS3 release. Who knows they might release a full MGS1-4 HD pack or something. That would be pretty neat.

@12. YES! This needs to have “Twin Snakes”!!! I’ve been waiting so long to play this, but never had an N64. I understand if it only has Twin Snakes, some people may be upset, but Twin Snakes would really boost the sales, I think.

This Remastered 1-3 collection could come out a few months before the inevitable MGS4 Special Edition Re-release (a la MGS2 Substance, MGS3 Subsistence). Both games would have trophy support. I would be really pleased if the Remastered 1-3 was a little cheaper than a full title too ($40, maybe?) but I’d pay $100 for the damn thing if they just made it.

I’m content with my MGS Essentials Collection. I’m one of those guys who enjoys playing the game the way it originally was rather than a remix. I have no problem with things like this being done though.

I agree with Yan_BigBoss. MSX games should be included in here too. Heck with ps3 able to play PSP minis, being able to play the PSP Metal Gears should be up here as well. This is going to be one expensive collection, but I’d still buy it and hope others would too

I just sold my MGS colection due to the fact that I had too many PS3 games to play and wasn’t using my PS2 anymore, which I also sold. This would give me the chance to play them again all at once as I had originally planned.

Like I said in the Ico/SOTC Collection Idea, this would be like printing free money, assuming production wouldn’t take long. It only took 15 weeks for the God of War Collection, but a game like this would obviously take a bit longer because of all the extra details.

I would buy this mainly for MGS3 in HD. Also they should add both versions of MGS1. Would rather play the original even if the textures are pixelated.

The original MGS1 is already available on the PSN, and it’s already been given a face lift for the game cube. I kind of doubt if a collection like this ever came out that they would re-update the original, but you never know I guess.

I think the Collection has to include all the Metal gear games ever made(twin snakes and the first ones on the old systems)to be completed.With the huge amount of space of the new blu-ray(67 GB dual layer),that would be no problem.It can fit the MGS4 uncompressed this time and all the others together.After all,the Essential Collection was only released in the US

Well, I’d love a collection like this, even over Peace Walker (I can’t get used to the demo not having pause).

It *should* have both versions of MGS1, mainly for the purists (and considering the BD storage capacity).

But, thinking it over, Twin Snakes wouldn’t probably be included as N I N T E N D O did have a hand in its making (heck, they even thank Shigeru Miyamoto in the end credits). And a whole new remake for a PS3 compilation seems highly unlikely. We would have to stick to the original PS1 version.

WOW! Really? MGS has such slow slow game play and long long long talking head cut scenes. There is absolutely no reason to remake this single player game in its current form in HD. A game should not be “remade in HD” in every action you do I do too. Vary little deviation from the set course in MGS. God of War is a slasher beat’em up game with huge boss fights, Street Fighter II HD is fighter. MGS is a slow long talking heads stealth action game. Making it HD wouldn’t do much to improve it and make it playable or saleable again.

Ohhh yes i want this , a single tear ran down my face when i played the Shadow Moses island in the MGS4 dream section, just remake that one game and watch the money pile up Konami , and i get goosebumps thinking of a whole new tanker section of MGS2 with the MGS4 engine.
