Sure the streaming disc is nice but its a pain at times, a native Netflix streaming application under movies would be nice, with the option to hide it for those that dont use Netflix of course.
A native Netflix application is now available to all PS3 owners. Check the Video section of the XMB to download the application. http://bit.ly/db75uQ

I would use this feature. It can be a pain juggling the disk in and out of your PS3 every time you decide to watch a movie/show.

No reason this couldn’t work…why not? *shrugs*

No need to push here, they know we want it…my only concern is how are they gonna regulate the use and licenses of the titles outside the US, you know with so many ppl whit American accounts living overseas.

It’s on the way later this year. They have already confirmed this. Once the exclusivity deal with Netflix and Micro$oft runs out. The reason PS3 accesses it through a disc was Netflix’s way of bringing the service to the PS3 and not infringe on their agreement with Micro$oft.

Instead of hiding it…. it would be nice if it just installed off the netflix disc.

The XMB Netflix Application will be launching later this year, with details probably announced at E3. Prior arrangements with Microsoft prohibited a native client until their exclusivity ended, but it -is- coming.
CDprofessional: Don’t blame Microsoft for Sony not listening to their fans sooner. They made a good business move in locking Netflix exclusivity like they did.

I cant wait for that day. Having to place a bluray in the drive doesn’t quite feel like a complete NetFlix streaming experience. To be honest, I hate having to do that. So I end up using my computer to stream movies.

We will have this later this year.
They had to give it to us on a disc for licensing reasons. Another game console has Netflix exclusivity, but it will expire soon.

tomstockmail | March 18th, 2010 at 3:03 am
Don’t ever put it under the Video section without the user putting it in themselves. Other than that, I agree.
11 is right on why we don’t have this already.
But remember to NOT add it under Video. If someone wants it, goto the Apps section under PlayStation Store and download it yourself.

MrZombie1 | March 27th, 2010 at 6:11 am
yep it’s coming.. just no ones said exactly when.. I’d expect something at one of the coming big conventions..
23
BlindMango | March 27th, 2010 at 9:27 am
they’re supposed to be doing this later this year after the agreement with Microsoft and Netflix expire.
24
Detsuki-G | March 29th, 2010 at 12:07 am
I think it should be downloadable like Vidzone.

DOMINIRICANKiiD | March 29th, 2010 at 4:33 pm
Yes! make this happen
26
EskoCruz | March 29th, 2010 at 5:55 pm
Yes, Thank YOU.
I hate saying it, but this is one thing that bugs me which XBOX 360 has over PS3.
27
THE_SILENCE_ | March 30th, 2010 at 1:09 pm
its going to happen the only reason why we have the disk right now is because xbox has an exclusive thing with etflix where for a period of time they could be the only game console with integrated netflix we should have it this year or so

bataille | April 3rd, 2010 at 11:03 am
The bigger issue is the User Interface. The Xbox Netflix interface is far better than the PS3′s. It needs to be completely rethought and made USEFUL and BROWSEABLE.

I HATE the discs, but if it were as an application, Im sure Sony would make TONNES MORE PROFIT! XD

mgsfoxhound2 | April 14th, 2010 at 2:22 am
Sony Has said they will give a firmware update within 2010 so the disc will no longer be needed and will access it trough xmb

COMBATCSOLDIER | May 11th, 2010 at 12:52 am
I gave you thumbs down simply because after E3 later this year they already said they would do this. However if they didnt then I would have given you thumbs up.
33
righello | May 11th, 2010 at 1:02 am
Ditto. The disc was just until they develope a satisfactory downloadable version.
34
Vernon_Hardapple | May 11th, 2010 at 1:17 am
This is already confirmed.

What 1, 2, and 3 said, plus this idea has already been posted at least a couple times already. People need to learn how to use the search bar on the page.

As sated by everyone else, its already coming. Its not a bad idea though so i gave you a thumbs up.
37
curtisghall | May 11th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
i have a feeling if we had an app for netflix, it would make us sign in psn just to use like xboxlive,
imagine paying for xboxlive just the use netflix that sucks,
leave it like it is
38
GotHennessy | May 11th, 2010 at 8:48 pm
I didn’t know this thing was confirmed and I couldn’t find a post like until after I already posted this. Giving it a thumbs down won’t help so don’t even vote. Thank You.

rougegoat | May 11th, 2010 at 9:45 pm
Microsoft has an exclusive contract atm with Netflix. once that runs up it’ll be integrated. so you just gotta be patient while that goes through, since it’s already confirmed it will prob late summer/fall.

http://gizmodo.com/5310816/sony-bravia-connected-hdtvs-finally-land-netflix-streaming
netflix is already available without a disc on Internet Connected Sony Bravia HDTV ‘s. let’s hope Sony will bring Sony Bravia Internet TV that is already on the market (see my recently posted idea and the link above.).
41
zachattackary | May 14th, 2010 at 2:44 pm
I hope it doesn’t make Netflix slower like it is on Xboxs if it is integrated.
42
Traz_Heart | June 1st, 2010 at 4:01 pm
It will come that is a given. Don’t worry.
Both Netflix and Sony want to do it but they can’t yet.
Netflix was on X360 first and to do that they signed a contract with Microsoft to “Only be “ON” X360.”
So that is why Netflix is “ON” disks for the other two consoles.
When that exclusivity contract runs out you bet the next PSN day for updates Netflix will be there.
43
mrdeadhead | June 17th, 2010 at 5:59 pm
thumbs up because it still hasn’t happened yet.
44
Talgron | June 21st, 2010 at 4:13 pm
I can’t have my ps3 and computer connected at the same time so im screwed until no disc update, unless you still have to have both connected then im still screwed. Does anyone know if ps3 and computer have to be on to activate after no disc update?

jboone | July 4th, 2010 at 10:03 am
Thumbs up for me as well. Would be satisfied with a real ETA for this as opposed to just ‘coming in 2010′…

Xbox already has this lol
