Keep dreaming. PS3′s planned life expectancy is to exceed 10 yrs.

it doesn’t unified memory, that sucks and is used in low-end PCs… main memory is way slower than graphics memory… it just needs 2gb for main and 2gbs for GPU if its launched in 2012… if latter needs more but not unified

It’s being made whether we ask for it or not.

Too soon.
Generally good idea. but I (and many others)are not ready to shell out another $600+ when there is plenty of life still in the PS3.

Let’s focus on PS3 here, bud. Really don’t want to see a new PS anytime soon.

Yes, before SONY has made back all those billions lost trying to get PS3 on its leg why not loose a few billions more coming out with a system nobody wants.
Better graphics is not a reason to begin next cycle anytime soon, games look fine as is. Lets not turn Consoles into PC’s here.

another Idea would be for each SPU to have more than one componet/core that specialize in different programing abilities.
an SPU (4cores in 1 SPU packet) for AI there is already work on a AI chip.
an SPU (3-4cores)for Physics (already a chip for physics)
an SPU (2-4cores)to handle the intputs from Move, Eye and others
and an spu (1core) for XMB
and an spu(core) for Security like now on PS3 (1core)
3 general SPUs (2-4cores in each) for general programing. The general SPUs could be whole ARM cpu cores that are great general low power cores or other general CPU cores.
the design could incorprate cache coherency and a real virtual memory implementation.
several of these CPUs would work together.

PL4YSTATION REVOLUTION. I like that name =^) Alao if Sony does not update the PS4 with chips that go in the same directions as I stated, then I hope they go in a new direction with Ray chips. that focus on ray tracying and Ray physics.
HINT to Sony, EITHER way please have people work on the API and middle engines ASAP. Have the console ready and work on lowering the price. Imangine if PS3 was deyayed but cost only $400.00 to build instead of $800.00

Also PL4STATION REVOLUTION should come out in 2016 at the earliest. Sony should offer a $100.00 warentee with upgrade for several Serial number fat consoles to change out their CPU and GPU to the smaller 45nm/40nm chips.
Sony then should raise the GHz on the PS3 to 5-6 GHz and have the 8th SPU become active.
By doing this it will up the power of PS3. it has been stated that it could be done. by many game sites. Sony would do this to battle the launch of the next Xbox in 2011 or 2012 and prolong the console a few extra years.
It would also work better with 3D and Move as they take up Cell resourses which would be alleviated by this increase in power.
IT would be CHEAPER than launching a new console, and by doing this word of mouth and New would work out better than advertising as it has not been done before!

Ps4 should cost 800$. Have extremely deluxe hardware and software capabilities.
Minimum 8 cores, maximum cellshaders 6, 16 gig of ram, 4 gig of Vram and ten times our current video processing power on the market when it comes out. At the rate the market evolves in the computer industry this is not a joke when saying to be visionary will explodes current expectations of what life is going to be.
But before they bring that on the market they should make their library better because ps3 is poor on titles in america. I own 80% of all titles and I think there is huge room for improvement in that department. Where are the multi BR 50gb games ??? I haven’t seen games using the full capacity of blu ray discs yet.

I don’t want a cheap console with tricks to compensate for lack of efforts and technology. I want a top of the line engine, multimedia system and dominant gaming console.
Give me something real to expect the state of the art.
My computer has 6 gb of vram on 2x 3 gb cards, 16 gb of ram and a i7-3960X coming in soon with full usb 3.0 compatibility so I strongly expect Sony to specialize their console to be a monster something like that by the time PLAYSTATION 4 comes out mainstream.

Create a DELUXE for top paying customers and a lower end for those with less budget, the end.

I really wonder how ambiguous and vague (unrealistic) ideas get past the moderators of this blog, and very VERY good ones, don’t?
Mainly since you’ve only mentioned a few features you wish to have in the upcoming PlayStation platform, barely stating anything else you desire of the device, with or without additional characters (yes, i know about the 300 character limit).
