Seperate PSN logins for each player

Idea 231 | Posted in by | March 17, 2010

It would be nice if players 2 through 4 could log into their own PSN accounts so that if we play split-screen online, they would show up with their own PSN ID instead of guest, and could earn trophies

This is already available. The 360 implements it at the game level too, just like the PS3 games have to. Voted down because it’s already here…

drivatar  |  March 18th, 2010 at 3:33 am

Didn’t know it’s already possible in a limited way.

XMB is not designed for concurrent logins.

g-u-1-d-0  |  March 18th, 2010 at 3:37 am

Why is this only partially supported in SOME games when it should be available in ALL multiplayer capable games!!?? It’s EMBARASSING when Xbox owning friends come over and such a fundamental feature isn’t readily available!?!

54

spideyal  |  March 18th, 2010 at 4:13 am

Yeah, this idea would be amazing.
Especially since the Move is coming out, people are going to want their own profiles.

But if this happens, each profile should be linked to each player slot. And instead of loading a whole XMB for each other player, just make it only load their friends list and only the first player/main account have full XMB Access.

If it is already there devs should be more made aware about this functionality and about the demand for it.

The extra player login should be made at system level instead of the game level. Each time an extra controller is connected the system should ask if a known system PSN account, a guest PSN account wants to login or if doesn’t need to login an extra player.
Default the setting should be “offline guest”.

thats already kinda happened in little big planet where you can go into your own psn id if you have more then one user id. though it is kind of hard to have it working to have 4 trophy boxes, message boxes etc.

58

Vito_R  |  March 18th, 2010 at 8:44 am

I’m kind of surprised this isn’t a standard feature, actually.

paxpacis  |  March 18th, 2010 at 9:11 am

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond also has this, but I do not know about 2nd player trophies..

So I voted yes ;)

danwii  |  March 18th, 2010 at 9:39 am

i dident realise that this wasn’t available for ps3 but something ive used alot on other consoles as i tend to play games split screen with my mates round.

61

familyguyfan1984  |  March 18th, 2010 at 9:48 am

really surprized that xbox has this feature and the ps3 doesnt

62

Riokogen  |  March 18th, 2010 at 10:19 am

Ya I agree that would be pretty awesome but I don’t know if it would be even possible.

63

faraway25  |  March 18th, 2010 at 10:47 am

I agree, this definitely needs to be implemented at the PSN level to allow for trophy support and make sure it’s available. Developers aren’t going to see this as an additional way to make money so they won’t go out of their way to add it in, just like Custom soundtracks for the PS3. Sony should force them to do it just like the trophies.

64

CLEKRAK76  |  March 18th, 2010 at 11:38 am

We truly need this feature to be used.

65

ilnewsome  |  March 18th, 2010 at 12:12 pm

Yes. Already exists. Don’t say Xbox already does it because the system impliment them both in the same way (except for Trophies maybe). MW2 on 360 and MW2 on PS3, no dual account login. Resistance 2, LBP, ModNation Racers, and a few other titles on PS3 allow it. Get at the lazy ass developers for not doing it. Tell them WE want it too. Most ACTIVISION games (except COD series) have it on 360 but not PS3. Start threads on their websites about it being in their next update, etc. The problem is, split screen gaming isn’t that popular anymore except in certain genres like LBP/ModNations kind of games… the rest of the console multiplayer games have gone fully online mostly thanks to PS2, but also PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live.

66

KYPCK  |  March 18th, 2010 at 12:28 pm

Resistance 2 shows that it is possible but rarely used. So no need.

67

DuckReconMajor  |  March 18th, 2010 at 12:56 pm

Oops. I didn’t see this and submitted another suggestion. Anyway, yes, I hear it has been implemented, but developers aren’t putting it in like they should. Maybe this is because they don’t know. I think Sony should make the push to let them know.

68

Techni  |  March 18th, 2010 at 1:10 pm

And it should support trophies for other players.

We also need a way to bring profiles to friend’s PS3s like 360 does by letting you copy them to memory cards.

69

Techni  |  March 18th, 2010 at 1:13 pm

We also need trophy support for each player, and a way to bring our profiles to a friend’s place easier

70

naanda  |  March 18th, 2010 at 2:01 pm

Xbox 360 beats you in the co-op depot because of this! Get on the ball sony!

71

Swanx  |  March 18th, 2010 at 3:01 pm

This is the one thing I want more than anything. When me and my son are playing, we have to basically go through each game twice just to get the trophies. this should be a piece of cake to implement and in my eyes, been in the PSN to start with.

72

Ashitaka96  |  March 18th, 2010 at 3:06 pm

THE PS3 SUPPORTS THIS, it’s just not mandatory. Which it should be for the few games that have local multiplayer.

73

venomblade89  |  March 18th, 2010 at 3:15 pm

This feature shouldb e universal, so you could sign into 2 accounts right in the XMB. 360 does it like this, it is not game specific, please implement this!

74

PlayHero86  |  March 18th, 2010 at 3:34 pm

I don’t understand why this wasn’t a feature from the very beginning.

75

Protofan  |  March 18th, 2010 at 3:44 pm

With how light your profile generally is for PS3 only thing would be for such games have a profile save or host it on thier servers if it goes online or both so you can transfer your progress and lock it to your PSN ID.

76

Wolfram23  |  March 18th, 2010 at 4:12 pm

This feature would be so great if it was through the PS3 not just relegated to specific software (games). Particularily of interest to me is split screen Spec Ops in MW2, playing with my cousin I wish by completing levels at his place I could earn the stars for them as well.

77

78

XXstupidnameXX  |  March 18th, 2010 at 7:07 pm

I would like to add that, in Resistance 2 if you are dual logged, the 2nd person still shows up as online to their friends even though you cant receive any messages. It would be better if you could receive them or the account doesnt show up as online at all.

79

aVeRsioN_X  |  March 18th, 2010 at 9:25 pm

would love to see this; so everyone playing a game together could earn trophies and such.

80

Kchow23  |  March 18th, 2010 at 10:51 pm

very different because LBP doesn’t let you log into your PSN Account and earn trophies

81

NewYork214  |  March 19th, 2010 at 2:29 am

this is my most wanted feature. allow all people to recieve/send messages. everyone can earn trophies together.

82

NewYork214  |  March 19th, 2010 at 2:29 am

and online play split-screen

83

BloodySky  |  March 19th, 2010 at 4:29 am

Yes, yes, YES! Been waiting for this feature forever. Sure, some games have it, but the player that logged in through the game can not receive trophies. Heck, they can’t even view their friends list or even let friends know they are online.

84

Evoking1230  |  March 19th, 2010 at 7:43 am

this is the only thing the PS3 lacks IMO. Individual log-in of profiles and able to earn trophies on the individual accounts.

Sony has to make this mandatory and have all past games incorporate it.

360 has it…why cant we?

85

FarronFox  |  March 19th, 2010 at 7:53 am

Yes, you should allow more than 1 player to log in at the same time on multi-player games, on the one console.

For example it is pretty annoying while playing Buzz, that if a player gets a certain trophy it won’t be given to them unless they are the one and only PSN account logged in. This needs to be fixed for Buzz and all other multi-player games like LittleBigPlanet and so on.

The 360 allows more than one player to log-in at a time and get achievements for whoever received them, so I’m hoping that the PS3 can eventually get it as well.

This would be an awesome feature.

88

chaisemon  |  March 19th, 2010 at 9:38 am

isint this already done in resistance and LBP??
i dont think its upto sony to decide it. i think its all upto the game developer.

89

yocomodragon  |  March 19th, 2010 at 12:39 pm

This could be one of the many things Xbox has a pantent on though. Like custom soundtrack, the reason it’s not in all games is because of xbox, developers have to manually input it into a ps3 game.

I’m not sure if this is one of them, but it could be.

90

IrishPete333  |  March 19th, 2010 at 2:13 pm

I second this. We need more games to have split-screen ONLINE multiplayer too.

91

jimhead  |  March 19th, 2010 at 2:38 pm

as long as it is optional, I agree to this suggestion.

92

Feiwaltan  |  March 19th, 2010 at 4:59 pm

This should have been there on day one, but it better get here soon, with cross game chat and auto-sync of trophies. These are things that just seem natural when you think about multiple people playing on the same system.

93

FarronFox  |  March 19th, 2010 at 6:57 pm

This function isn’t in LittleBigPlanet (currently) for those who seem to believe it is.

What this post is requesting is that more than one player be able to log-in to their PSN account at the same time (as can be done on the 360 without needing Gold subscription). You can’t do that with LittleBigPlanet. Only one player can get the trophies. They aren’t dished out to two, three, or four like the 360 allows with achievements.

REMOVE THE ASTERIX FROM LINK. It’s one of the top 10 ideas.

XenoNative  |  March 19th, 2010 at 11:40 pm

not having the ability to sign in side by side the ps3 master account is extremely annoying. countless times my brother will come over and he would wish that he was playing on his own account. we would have platinum Resident Evil 5 years ago, lol.

98

Teflon02  |  March 20th, 2010 at 12:35 am

stop saying its already there. NO ITS NOT
what this topics about, is when a second, third or w.e players control connects to the ps3 it allows them to directly log in. making them also get access to theyre friends and also earn trophies. i have both resistance & LBP u cant do it, what KBP does is save the file to the user & loads like ppl want but no trophies nore friends list comes with it. resistance lets u log online but doesnt use you save but online states plus u cant talk to ur friend while in
i like the sub menu idea for players in port 2 & up.
they only get theyre friends list show up and regular options while Player 1 gets the full XMB
but outside of a game the friends list show side by side as in.
intead of it saying friends it would be multiple columns
Teflon02 XxNOxX
Friends Friends
