Seperate PSN logins for each player

Idea 231 | Posted in by | March 17, 2010

It would be nice if players 2 through 4 could log into their own PSN accounts so that if we play split-screen online, they would show up with their own PSN ID instead of guest, and could earn trophies

This is up to the developers. Sony allows the feature and provides tools, but it isn’t required.
XBL requires it I believe.

I wish Call of Duty, especially Black Ops could let you play up to 4 players offline on zombies, and MW2 let you play up to four players online, instead of one.

For a game like Borderlands, this would be great!

Why are there so many down votes on the greatest ideas.

obivion_is_near  |  August 30th, 2011 at 12:15 am

some games already have this feature so its not the psn its the way the game multiplayer is made. example: little big planet

It would be like each controller can have a user logged in, like how Xbox does it.

playing gta with 2 accounts at same time, now thats what i’m talking about xD

Two login works no-where near as it should on PS3.

For one, when second controller presses the PS Button, the XMB for PLAYER ONE comes up. So Player 2 can’t interact with his PSN in any way, makes him logging in pointless.

He also can’t get trophies, also makes him logging in pointless.

^ yea that’s about as good as just letting another player edit their name tag. Superficial…

Are you directing it toward a specific game ?

JFin947  |  November 24th, 2011 at 11:28 am

i totally agree! Xbox 360 users can do this. I think that playstation will lose customers if they don’t add this feature. Even though the online is free, i would be willing to switch to Xbox in order to have those features. Same goes with cross game chat, which xbox also has.

JFin947  |  November 24th, 2011 at 11:30 am

i Think this would work best for games like Black ops and Mw2 and MW3 add it sony!

XxAFG_killA23xX  |  November 25th, 2011 at 4:50 pm

that is a great idea us psn users should be able to do it in every game like MW3

It’s already possible, but Sony is in it’s third videogame generation and still didn’t learn how to create an easy to handle DevKit. Xbox has this feature all over it’s games. Why PlayStation 3 doesn’t? Because the system is complicated to work with. First party games use this feature, but only them, contrary to Microsoft console where everyone uses it without problems. This is it. Maybe in the next gen…

Creative_ae  |  December 13th, 2011 at 4:17 am

Its now work with 4 player on reachet and clank all4one i can sign in for 4 accounts.

also on MotorStorm Apocalypse and Uncharted 3.

I really surprised this feature missed on Modern Warfare 3 after all these game released before it

374

gold1617  |  December 25th, 2011 at 4:05 pm

already existent in 1st party games, 3rd party developers are just too lazy to implement this feature

I agree heavily. It’s even more annoying when you play a game such as Dungeon Defenders and not only can’t the second-fourth player earn trophies neither can the first player. Even though it supports split screen and online at the same time, good luck playing with multiple users split-screen and finding a group online that doesn’t know you. Automatic kick as soon as you join because they want to get the trophies.

tbclycan  |  January 20th, 2012 at 10:45 am

People probably already said this, but, this is not something SOny or Playstation 3 can do, since it is up to the game you play. You play Little Big Planet with four friends and they all can sign into their PSNs, great, then you play Black Ops and your friends are forced to play as guests. It is simply up to the game if it is possible or not.

johnr283  |  February 14th, 2012 at 9:04 pm

Resistance 3 had this as well.

384

jerjcros  |  February 16th, 2012 at 12:05 pm

This is a great idea. My friends and I try to have a game night once or twice a month where all of us get together and play Black Ops or Mod Nation or whatever else. It is impossible to connect 4 PS3s to a single network without problems (4 of us) even with a 20mb connection and a HP procurve switch. However we can get 2 to connect with few problems. Sigh, this probably realistically can not be implemented or forced on to companies fully until the PS4.

@93 in LittleBigPlanet2, if you’re playing with someone locally and you’re signed into PSN then any trophies they earn you will earn too as soon as you launch the game on your profile.

387

abbasman47  |  March 3rd, 2012 at 6:31 pm

some new games are actually using this feature, like Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Rachet and Clank: All 4 one , etc….

388

speedenforcment  |  March 5th, 2012 at 5:36 pm

that would be good, but what sucks is that you cant earn trophies on some splits screen matches EX: Call of Duty: World at War

389

jazz564  |  March 5th, 2012 at 5:56 pm

YES!!!
It’s confusing having all these saved accounts on COD split-screen.You could only do seperate sign-ins on a couple games like LittleBigPlanet

390

ZOMBEGAM3R  |  March 16th, 2012 at 8:03 pm

man this would so damn sweet for uncharted, blackops, killzone and other multiplayer games

LordDust  |  May 1st, 2012 at 12:25 am

this would be awesome if it works as good as the xbox 360s does because on the ps3 i want to play with my friends at the same time but cant and it sucks

IIlIllIIllIllIll  |  May 4th, 2012 at 10:03 am

the only thing i liked about xbox 360 was the seperate log in, got to keep my own record on my buddies system which is where i ussually played at but now the tables have turned and now i i own the ps3 and he has to roll under as my second player. Simplest things that could easily make the 360 completely garbage. and lets get real the new slims should have play back so we can play ps2 games!

395

VeNoMx904  |  May 27th, 2012 at 5:46 pm

They really need to come out with it now and we know they are because they have to,its the reason almost everybody bought the ps3,and they know that.

396

midnightangel666  |  May 29th, 2012 at 11:12 am

Now see… this would be totally useful at my house. I’m 32 and my nephews and nieces (all 6 of them) come over to have gaming weekends all the time and it frustrates them that they can’t have their stats show up on their IDs. Only on the profile they’re playing on. I think this is because if we’re able to actually log in multiple IDs on multiplayer games, there would be no need to have a 2nd ps3 in the house or a 2nd tv if gaming got really intense. We stuck with PSN despite the uber hack. Why not show us some love? I know I could get a gaming weekend up to at least 3 times the normal people if we could automatically log in separate IDs. It’s logical. If the game is on the system, why can’t we log in with our own IDs? My nieces play guitar hero and get confused as to which of them is Iron_Maidens_666 and Iron_Maidens_666(2). It’s frustrating when you have 6 kids (and more people in the house) and have to do everything all over on each profile.

This is a very great idea !

398

amosballa  |  June 5th, 2012 at 2:13 pm

Honestly I am a PS-Family FANTATIC! The 360 has an advantage here because it was designed to have multi-profile support from the get go, a firmware update would be nice, but Sony would have to redesign part of the XMB so everyone that is logged in (up to 7 players) could have their own profile section, it would be nice if people could be connected to a PS3 via wifi and still be utilizing the same things as up to 4 players on the same PS3 system

399

at_war4  |  June 6th, 2012 at 8:21 pm

i would love it if ps3 came out with at least 12 roller coaster games

ElektroDragon  |  June 7th, 2012 at 3:34 pm

While a few games support this, it is VERY clunky. It’s not a true dual simultaneous login, and the 2nd player’s trophies are only earned and shown after that player logs in themselves later to the game. NOT A GOOD SOLUTION. Please add true simultaneous sign in and trophy earning for PS4, at least.
