This would seriously make accumulating trophies more appealing. There’s no point unless the list is easily accessible and sharable with your friends online.

Yes. I want my Trophies to synch to sites like Giant Bomb. Make an API that other sites can use to get our trophy info if we don’t chose to hide it.

please!!! i’m stuck hooking my intranet data which isn’t very friendly and not at all robust

Sites like ps3trophies.co.uk or ps3trophies.org would benefit a lot from this. Adding Trophies by hand is boring.

Also, you should also have your own OFFICIAL PSN TROPHY LEADERBOARD, accessible online and via PS3.

Let Giantbomb.com use the trophy api!!! Its lame that i can have my xbox/steam/wow achievements on there but not ps3.

I am completely for this idea!

Just want to note that there should be an opt-in for data to be accessible to external API access for the profile.

An API is a must if PSN is to compete with Xbox Live. Would be great if user stats and their current game-playing status was updated in real-time too.

It should work like EVE Online where you are given account keys that will allow apps to access your account data directly to make this an opt-in process and prevent sites from scraping everyone’s data and building their own leaderboards.

Rate limiting is to be expected to reduce load on the server, and perhaps a premium account option for allowing quicker updates.

I’d definitely like to see this.

SirTrigalot  |  March 17th, 2010 at 5:53 pm

exactly what I wanted to do. I would like this only because us.playstion and uk.playstation do not show the fill trophy list.

Watchmann  |  March 17th, 2010 at 7:05 pm

Unclear as to why Sony refuses to share this information, and either blocks or threatens to do so.

I like InfinityDevil’s idea. Have a OTP key that you can give to sites to add you to their trophy rankings. I think it would really help the trophy system out to be able to setup tiny, private trophy leagues. It’s better when you’re competing with 20-30 people around your own skill level that you know than trying to compete with thousands and thousands of people you don’t know and who have way more time than you do to compete.

OTP instead of a pure API key would allow you to disable individual sites instead of having to re-enter a new api key on all sites.

Yes please. Right now Trophies have a significant shortcoming to achievements in that you can’t export them to other sites. A trophy API would be extremely useful in that not only could we get sites like TrueAchievements for trophies, but those of us who own both consoles could finally get all of our trophies and achievements tallied in one place (e.g. Giantbomb). Allowing third party sites to access trophy and other player information would also further your brand and improve your player culture, and probably even lead to higher sales for PS3 games (as I bet there will be people who buy the 360 version of multiplatform games just so they can have all their achievements together in one place).

I can honestly see why Sony is choosing to do this… but it’s just not gonna work. People don’t get trophies to usually flaunt them in front of everyone, and forcing them to use only one website that actually supports Trophy integration is just stupid.
If anything, opening this service to more people will turn more heads and give PS3 equal footing with the Xbox Achievements.

Talebearer  |  March 17th, 2010 at 9:10 pm

This absolutely HAS to happen. Sites like GiantBomb.com in particular NEED Trophy support. Otherwise I’m going to stick with always, always getting multiplatform games on my Xbox 360, because it’s much easier to share my Gamerscore with all my friends. Thus far, a lot of the Trophy stuff has not delivered on its potential at all.

Ssnipo  |  March 17th, 2010 at 9:12 pm

I have a fan site and would be awsome have support from Sony to access the data. This way we could stop leeching the official website hehe

Andorski-G  |  March 17th, 2010 at 9:19 pm

Having Trophy API for the public to use is free advertisement for Sony. Look at how public access to Achievements has helped garner a community of XBL players. Plus, I really want to have my trophies listed on Giant Bomb.

24

TurboMan  |  March 17th, 2010 at 9:51 pm

it’s stupid not to have this available for other websites to be able to reward people for playing games in their communities… I would probably play more games because of it.

WakizashiM  |  March 17th, 2010 at 11:07 pm

I want my trophies on Giant Bomb.

Zeralith  |  March 17th, 2010 at 11:11 pm

Microsoft (XBOX Live and Games for Windows Live), Blizzard (WoW / StarCraft 2), and Valve (Steam) all do this and have an API/XML data feed that external sites can hook into. Yet Sony (PlayStation 3) does not. It’s a lie when you guys say “It only does everything” when it clearly does not. Seriously, a PSN Trophy API needs to be a top priority above everything else!

Why are there so many people that voted down to this but never commented? All of the comments seem to be for this. Can someone against this idea explain why they are opposed? I don’t understand why this wasn’t already implemented anyway. Pretty sad that we have to “suggest” this as a feature.

Stratege  |  March 18th, 2010 at 6:18 am

Great idea, all other companies have this and it is best way to build good community, why Sony don’t do this?

Do it Sony! There’s no reason why we shouldn’t have such a feature when it is obvious everyone would benefit.

49

Shmenon-Pie  |  March 18th, 2010 at 11:52 am

Nice to see so many people from PS3Trophies.com supporting the cause! Come on Sony, don’t make us continue to page-scrape please! :D
