This would be a good option.

I was getting ready to submit this. I’m actually surprised that the PS3 doesn’t already do this since it plays HD video clips no problem.

If you mean YouTube XL, this is nothing to do with Sony, contact YouTube about this people.. not SCE..

He is not talking about Youtube XL. The PS3′s flash software doesn’t allow youtube to show the “HD” button on videos. I don’t understand why the browser can’t stream HD video, when I can stream The Tester in HD from Sony’s server.

With all the ideas about updating flash, updating the browser, switching to firefox/chrome, lets hope Sony shows us what Share is all about.

Again, new browser please
The PS3 is a HD powerhouse, and you can’t access all that fullHD content on YouTube. It doesn’t seem to make much sense to me.

This isn’t something that Sony does. This is something that youtube itself does. However, you can actually visit the regular youtube and watch vids in hd. I’ve done it plenty of times. I’ve not tried it recently, but I’m sure it still works. Simply go to a user account when entering youtube instead of just youtube.com

The main problem is the ps3 browser sucks for watching videos. Try watching hulu in the browser and then try using the netflix disc. The difference is night and day. What we really need is a standalone youtube app

^Please? I can’t afford an HD DVR Box, so using Youtube HD would be so amazing on my flatscreen.

The power of the playstation wasted as usual. Come on Sony, there is no excuse for the BBC iPlayer and YouTube not being HD, or at least not halfD.

BalramRules | April 13th, 2010 at 10:52 am
Yh, and we should be able to upload from our PS3s, download vidz from our PS3s (of iPlayer as well), add favourites on our PS3s etc! XD

YouTube XL is garbage. i never use it because it’s so limited. i like to comment, so i use the full version of YouTube on the PS3 browser. the video quality is poor though and using the browser for YouTube is actually very useful so i hope it can be improved.

I think it’s high time that Sony does something about this. It’s easy to push this off on YouTube as the content provider – but I believe this should be on Sony’s back. If they cannot get a proper browser that supports appropriate plug-ins for on-demand HD playback on the PS3 – they should probably quit the business and get out. Media consumption on the web is changing and its happening fast. Give us a solution Sony!

PS3 is meant to be for entertainment purposes. Youtube in HD is needed for that goal. Maybe works if it’s an app, like netflix.

Quoted. Wake up Sony!

Its a joke comnpared to the 360, they want to be the center of our entertainment hub and say IT ONLY DOES EVERYTHING well guess, what NO IT DOESNT thats a LIE and actually, the Microsoft Xbox 360 does everything and the PS3 only offers a few good exclusive games and blu rays (and physical media might be extinct soon anyway). I dont think I will be buying a PS4 based on Sonys LIES and delays and general under-performance and security leaks and etc etc etc etc etc etc
