Trophies are for many gamer a real pain in the ass. It would be good if they could be globally deactivated in the XMB (at least the annoying messages during the game).

It’s fair. I love trophies, but some people just hate them. I think they should be allowed to remove them entirely if they want to. Or at least suspend their earning.
People voting down just don’t know the meaning of “option”.

Before trophies, games used to give players real rewards – unlockable moves/vehicles, new costumes, artwork, etc. Now all that stuff is DLC.

Great Suggestion! To those that voted ‘No’ – The suggestion is to have the OPTION to disable notifications, leave it on if you want, turn it off if you want. What could be more convenient?

I’d like to disable trophies altogether, absolutely pointless.

I like trophies and I can’t see how that little chime get’s annoying, but I see no harm in making them optional.

how can you not like trophies? They are achievements. I dont’ mind them at all. Actually its making me want to play more ps3 games now that they have them.
Absolutely NOT pointless. If they bother you so much then quit playing. Which.. i don’t see how you do something incredible & a little screen in the upper right corner dings. What, do they scare the crap out of you or something? Wow.. crazy people.

They are totally pointless. They offer no real-world reward, nor in-game reward. They only appeal to the instinct to finish games 100%, while overriding the inherent joy of playing games.
If you like trophies, that’s fine, really. Some of us don’t want trophies to intrude while we play, which they currently do. We can opt-out of other notifications, why not trophies?
