Patch / Update notes while downloading the patch

Idea 7594 | Posted in by | March 23, 2010

While downloading an update/patch for a game I’d like to have the choice to read what this update fixes/changes/adds etc. to the game, instead of standing still watching just the progress bar fill up.

even better, how about the notes BEFORE we decide if we want to download the patch or not?

This wouldn’t be easy to read if it’s just a quick update, but then those wouldn’t change much.
Maybe include pushing “O” after it’s done, so we can read all the updates first?

you mean a changelog?

yes that would be good,

This would make the upgrades less painful. I’d love to see this.

Very much so! I want some reading material.

This shouldn’t even be an idea it should be by default. y they release patches shrouded in mystery is beyond me.

djnealb  |  March 24th, 2010 at 11:15 am

and also make sure that the notes are in plain english rather than techno-jargon.

finally a good idea…..sony needs to monitor what they post in this “Share” program…..so far a lot of bad ideas being posted. +VOTE

sony wont put it…
Cause is an obvious feature to have in 2010!!!!!!!

Robbie_G_lrish  |  March 24th, 2010 at 12:45 pm

This would be nice. I’m hoping some of these features actually go through.

GOT2BALL  |  March 24th, 2010 at 1:13 pm

I love this idea would be nice if they did that so people actually knew what to look out for when they got into game. Half the time you cant even tell anything was done and your sitting around trying to figure out what you just waited 10-15min to dl that patch for.

Great Idea indeed. Just had to download a new patch for GTA IV, and I still don’t know what changed. :/

kowhoho  |  March 24th, 2010 at 3:55 pm

Absolutely brilliant, a wonderful feature.

MisterAV  |  March 24th, 2010 at 5:12 pm

they RELEASE info about a patch but only one times in 10000000. For example in inFamous there’s a patch for “Add English language” (i’m italian…), just go to chronology of updates. And if I remember correctly this was displayed when I downloaded it.

i think thats a good idea but i don’t really mind either way when i want to know i go on the official site of the game normally they always say what the update was for.

Dramscus  |  March 24th, 2010 at 7:40 pm

Please do this I hate checking forums and various sites to find all the tiny minor fixes

Lendorien  |  March 25th, 2010 at 12:51 am

This is a really good idea. I mean, most other software have patch notes when you download a patch or update. Not only will this give people something to read while waiting, but also let them know what the update is doing for them. It’s a user friendly feature.

30

Lucca202  |  March 26th, 2010 at 10:49 am

Definitely. And have them tell whether or not my save file will work with whatever new feature/fix is being implemented.

31

Ultra-AleM  |  March 29th, 2010 at 11:07 am

Yeah!!! I had the same idea, great!!

32

TiberNull  |  April 9th, 2010 at 2:14 am

Any type of patch history would be useful. Searching the whole interweb to find what change from 1.00 to 1.01 is a hassle and sometimes they don’t even tell you what they fixed.

33

BalramRules  |  April 15th, 2010 at 11:14 am

I’ve been begging for this feature, but you can just go on Wikipedia and type “PlayStation 3 System Software” simple.

fleinn  |  May 2nd, 2010 at 8:26 pm

Yeah, excellent idea. This really is a treasure trove of ideas for Sony.. if they are looking, obviously..

35

phinnv8  |  August 2nd, 2010 at 6:04 pm

Yep, this feature is essential, another idiotic thing Sony overlooks.
