Option to decrease/increase the size of the picture, some modern TVs have overscans which cuts the sides of the picture off, games like metal gear solid 4 allows this option ingame, but not universal.

Being able to tweak your display should always be an option.

Yea this should be in the display settings on the xmb.

I posted that the other day and it never showed up. Im glad someone else thought about it. +1 from me. I can only see 80% of the PS3.

I have the same problem too. Overscan adjustment should be an option in the XMB and a minatory option in games from now on.

I have this problem. my screen is always to far left. it gets annoying, becuase it cuts off parts of the HUD in a lot of games.

Glad to see someone got this idea up, I tried a while back and was denied for some reason. I’ve had this problem for quite a while and it would be nice to see a universal option in the XMB.

THis happens with older tv sets. OF the DlP kind. If you get a lcd or led then it should fix and automatically adjust these issues. Its just a way for everyone to have to spend more money.

My Panasonic HDTV cut the edges too… It just happens ’cause the resolution is 1024×768 instead of the 720p resolution that FullHD TVs has.

It’s shocking that this isn’t already in there. It’s even more shocking that people would vote against this…

It’s not that bothersome on my TV, but it is annoying knowing I can’t see parts of a menu or whatever. Also with this, games don’t have to include a specific option since its universal in the XMB.

I hope sony can add this feature in their XMB. I know the MGS4 and GOW3 have an in-game adjustment but we shouldn’t be hoping that every game has this feature. It solve so much problems like missing HUD cutout and text.

Who wouldn’t want this feature? Every one wins!

Here’s a hint: Check if your HDTV has something called “1:1 Mapping,” “PC Mode” or “Overscan.”

I agree. This is a good option, and I have the same problems.

I’m not sure if it is the display, at least not all the time, as I see clipping of the edges in the thumbnails for videos. It’s great to know I’m not the only one to find this to be irritating, it’s a shame you can only vote once
.

Hi all, I recently purchased an HD PVR and I was experiencing the same issues. There was an option on my HDTV to set the Aspect-ratio, when it was locked to 16:9 I had Over-scan, but when I set it to “Scan” it was gone. So you might want to give this a try, find an option on your Tv that will search for the aspect ratio itself. Greetings, FiTzZyE

GET THIS FIXED SONY!
it’s the most annoying thing in the world when I’m missing pixels on my games because you couldn’t have an option for this! I’m going to go Microsoft soon. I went to Nintendo to you guys because they wouldn’t solve another problem and I’ll do the same here if you keep ignoring your customers.

This makes so much sense. A lot of older HDTVs, mine included, don’t have any 1:1 modes, so there’s always overscan.
It makes a difference with a fair few PS3 games, and as an excellent blu-ray player, it’d make sense for film buffs too – where its even more important. It really would elevate the ps3 even further above other blu players.
PLEEASE Sony, this is a fantastic idea.

yes, please add this for people who have tvs/monitors that don’t work properly in general, or with the ps3 regarding overscan.
