Technical specifications should be shared with developers that allow them to create PSN titles that are playable on both the PS3 and PSP, along with cross platform support, instead of separate titles

I don’t know if that’s possible…

What I mean is, Sony should share with developers the technical specs of making a game on the PSP so that when developing a game for the PSN, they can work under those specifications and release it day and date with each other.
Take Pixel Junk Monsters for example. It was released on PSN and then was praised and enjoyed, so it was then ported and developed for the PSP, which took more time and resources. If they developed it from the get-go with the PSP in mind, it could of been released and ready for both platforms instead of redeveloping it for the PSP.
If you take a game like Fat Princess, it could of been released and supported for cross platform play.
This would be great too, because people who buy the games from the PSN can take them on the road with their PSPs.

IF they did that, then the PS3 version would have to be dumbed down to work on PSP. I don’t want my PS3 games to be worse just so you can play on your PSP

“PSN titles that are playable on both the PS3 and PSP”
They are called minis, didn’t you get the memo?

I am not saying “dumb down” a game, but share the technical specifications so that games developers can choose to create and have them released on both platforms.
Not all games, just the developers discretion. Things like Fat Princess, Pixel Junk Monsters, Pixel Junk Eden, etc. would work well, seeing as how they decided to create PSP ports later anyway, they could of saved time and resources if they developed for both platform compatibility from the get go.

Yeah, I think the Minis route would be the way to go (though, I think Minis is more of an answer to XBLA Indie games). But basically make a PSP downloadable game and emulate it on the PS3.

Well, I just suggest this to give PSN developers an outlet to release their games on a second platform day 1. Not emulating PSP games on PS3 (which would be neat, but much different for business), but allowing games to run on 2 platforms.

Also, I do not mean to limit EVERY PSN game released to be playable on PSP, I am just saying give developers the OPTION to if they choose so.

As long as the technical specs fit both systems then im ok with this. Otherwise if one version is dumbed down just so you can play it on your psp then there’s really no point. Although the PSP is a pretty powerful handheld system, being able to play a PS2 game like FFXII on it? Um.. thats for the tech heads to figure out.

Yeah, the minis are neat, and games like Pixel Junk Monsters supported remote play from your PSP.
