Better Quality Assurence of third party PS3 titles

Idea 3264 | Posted in by | April 7, 2010

Fallout 3 even a year and several patches after launch is still so buggy it crashes roughly once every 50 minutes. Other games crash the PS3 just by being played. Please bring down the mallet on these

Yes god damn yes.

Developers who release a buggy game should face reprecusions and be forced to make a patch.

(even tho most already do this, it would be nice to see Sony take a stance)

I had the same problem with Oblivion. I loved that game, but had to give up on it since it crashed so damn often.

Yes.
That game is a total mess.
It’s still my favorite from this gen.

Trust me this is a well documented case of a game being released in an completely unacceptable state. Its actually gotten worse now, I tried the original release, and then the Game of the Year Edition, and the game of the year edition with more than a year worth of patches is far worse, that one froze every 30 min on average.
But I later discovered that half of those freezes were not even crashes, it was that the game would just freeze, become completely unresponsive for up to a few minutes before returning, it happened often when aiming in VATS. This is a problem with the game, specially in one of the DLC areas. There is nothing wrong with my system, I play many intensive games for hours on end without the slightest problem. FFXIII, for an example, took me 80 hour to finish, and I would play it all day long on weekends, not even a single flinch.
The point is that developers like Bethesda are notorious for their half baked products, which is a tradition they are carrying over from their decadent PC days, and that kind of rubbish should not be allowable on consoles.
This growing problem needs to stop and only SONY can draw the line, I hope people will vote this idea up so as to bring it to their attention.

I just stuck in Fallout 3 today after many months away. I was just beginning to enjoy the Wasteland when the stupid thing froze after about half an hour. I understand that the gameworld is huge and complex, but wow does that game love to freeze up.

But even first party stuff is guilty, Uncharted:DF (dated spoiler) was the first game I saw freeze up on the PS3, when Drake and Elena are chased down the tunnel into the German base. Really ruined a super tense moment.

the only games i have trouble with are Bethesda’s the Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion and Fall Out 3 GotY. not a surprise though since they support microsoft more but thats no excuse to get people to waste 60$ on an extremely buggy game (im pointing finger at fall out) id like to be able to finish the game im playing. from my experience with Fallout’s freezing, it seems to lock up when your save data gets to be 10-13 MB’s. Bethesda now bumped EA from #1 to #2 on my most hated game company list, at least EA fixes thier games.

My Fallout 3(s) run fine all the time. It’s crashed less than five times since I first got it in March of 2009. Even though one of my saves got corrupt, the others work fine. I’ve owned 2 copies of Fallout 3. (Sold the first to help get Uncharted 2 on release)

This would be awesome, their are a few companies that leave glitches and collision errors in thier games all the time. Personally I am sick of the laziness that these developers and companies seem to do now-a-days. They just want to make a fast buck and that’s it. Sega is one that’s bad about this stuff, EA is another, Im sure we all can name a few companies that have gotten so lazy its not funny anymore.
