External Device to allow netflix outside US

Idea 17158 | Posted in , by | May 5, 2010

I know many people say its related to movie studios but its not fair that people even in puerto rico that are part of the US waters dont get netflix streaming. Perhaps Sony could work a deal with them

A little more info. I am a white man that was born in the US but am now living in puerto rico. I just want netflix instant streaming with my amazing ps3. Thats it. Netflix wont send the disk, however im sure sony could work some type of exclusive deal.

Isn’t this more of a Netflix problem? I don’t think it that easy to make an exclusive deal. Even though Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory they have different laws than the states.

+/-0 Didn’t vote either way because while it a good idea(+) it’s not Sony’s responsibility(-).

And does it really matter that you’re white or where you were born?

movie producers/studios have the ultimate say . Theres nothing really SCEA to negotiate with . movie producers /studios are reluctant to have their content distributed to regions with little to no copy right laws or enforcement . perhaps your best bet would be to contact your leaders and campaign to adopt more stringent , U.S . MAINLAND type laws and enforcement .

AFAIK, Netflix doesn’t even do PC streaming outside the US (due to regional agreements with studios). I don’t see what this has to do with Sony, unless you’re talking about Sony Pictures…

Why an external device? Anything that can be done with software should be.

An external device wouldnt do anything

I love it when hypocrites try to make a point in an argument and then completely destroys it in the next sentence:

“What are you some 12 year old boy with a hard on of flaming online cause your thinking your cool being a cyber bully. You are nothing more then a cheeseball, a punk and a loser.”

Cheeseball! Watch your language, there are kids here!

I have the same complain about netflix. Have written to them, no answer. The least they can do is offer us a lower rate, since we are paying the same amount as the rest for a service we can’t fully use. It’s just unfair, period. No need to accuse and threaten eachother. This is a forum for ideas and opinions, just respect eachother.

I live in Puerto Rico and have a Netflix account, they can mail the movies to me but, I can’t watch streaming movies. It is ironic that I can use my PS3 to see the DVD’s but not on line movies. Netflix will have to figure this out. Does Hawaii and Alaska have the same problem?
