option to view only comments with response on blog

Idea 18125 | Posted in by | May 14, 2010

On the blog it would be nice to have the option to see only the comments that have responses (from the developer). Since the developer responses often contain interesting details or clarifications.

Next to the total number of comments at the end of the post it shows the number of replies from the OP in bright red. It’s hard to miss.

@Vernon
It does but it doesnt filter just the comments and the replies, which i believe if what is meant

Good idea +1

Vernon, what I want is an easy way to see all those comments. At the moment we have to search through each page individually to find the comments. Which is a laborious process if there are a lot of comments. What I would like is a button that filters out all the comments that don’t have a response from the developer. That way I could see everything they have written easily.

I don’t think it should be the default though. That would limit discussions between users and possibly lead to more duplicate comments.

Alternatively, an option to sort the comments putting those with a reply first would be just as good.

good idea . since devs have a tendency to ignore impolite , trollish , irrelevant posts . it would make the blog more pleasant .

Scroll down and look for the red contrasting against the white, it really sticks out.

Thanks TubaDude49 for joining in the discussion. I think that is what a lot of us already do. Where that fails is when there are replies on multiple pages.

As I write this the recent post on Joe Danger on the US blog has 12 replies on three pages. Most are on the first page, some are on the second page and none are on the third page. But I have to scroll through all three pages to find that out. Some recent blog posts have five or more pages of comments.

I think it would be a big improvement not to have to scroll through all the comments manually.
