In the menu that pops up when one holds down the PS button, there should be an option to reboot the system. I have occasional issues that are resolved by rebooting, which could be faster.

You can just switch it off without gettin off da couch, and switch it on by the Home Button (PS), so you flopped, nice idea btw, i would like this option X)

Yes, I totally agree, not to mention the fact, there isn’t a REBOOT or RESET button on the PS3. So, I have to shut it off and then let it shut down, then push power again. I thought about this recently also.

I agree that this would be great. Gone are the days of dedicated reset buttons on game consoles, unfortunately. Seems like every few months I run into a problem that is fixed through a reset, usually network related problems. Of course, the better option would be to ensure that these issues never come up, but a nice middle-ground approach would be easier resetting.

Exactly. I often get the internet error, This is a DNS error and I have to always restart. Besides, if we can be lazy enough to not get off the couch to turn it off, what’s wrong with a reset, I think it only makes sense.

I would generally prefer a soft reset over a hard shutdown when it comes to hardware like computers and game consoles. If you regularly do hard shutdowns on your system with the switch in the back like that, chances are you’re slowly hurting it. Stop it.
If you’re talking about the actual reset button on the front, sometimes that doesn’t work as well as it should.

Yes, because the PS1 and PS2 both had soft reboot functions.

I totally agree! I was even thinking about doing that some days ago, but found out there was no way to.
It would make things much faster ans easier, if we could just go to XMB>Users> “Reboot System”!!!
