The title says it. It can tell how many users got on, how many people signed up, how many hours it was used, how many downloads on the Store. or a leaderboard of the most active users. Any more ideas?

Didn’t vote, but what’s the point of this? Sony’s staff can’t be so desperate that they’re posting here…

I think they should put PS Blog Share into the XMB. Someone suggest this idea. Because Not many people know about PS Blog share as you can tell by the votes. There should be at least 1million votes per idea. UP or Down.

Seems pointless. That’s all information that nobody outside Sony needs to know.

Why is it pointless? It seems they thought we needed to know there were over 50 million users on PSN during E3, why not now? Dont vote down if you think its pointless, because you are hurting others who want this. Not to mention you haven’t stated a reason why its pointless.

I think it’s pointless too .
you need reasons ?
additions to the ps3 should improve gameplay and add functionality , knowing how many people downloaded something from the store worldwide doesn’t do that and I don’t really care which leaderboards are active , unless I own the game why would I want information on its leaderboards ?
how often would this update ? how much bandwidth would it take to have you linked into all of those different servers worldwide getting this data on your ps3 ?
it would slow psn down , cause lag in games for lots of people and all for useless information —- yes , useless ….. how would or could you possibly make use of having information of how many new accounts signed up that day ?

Hey FJ1100_rider, your just stupid! Its a blog post. They know all this information, and it would be a BLOG POST! Do you read? Its says a WEEKLY BLOG POST! The leaderboard is for active users not person who played this game the most!

zekececil14 | July 20th, 2010 at 12:57 pm
Ok FJ1100_rider, I will answer your questions now
how often would this update? Well in the title it say WEEKLY
how much bandwidth would it take to have you linked into all of those different servers worldwide getting this data on your ps3? The same it has always done, they already get all this info, but they aren’t putting it on your PS3 because it goes on THIS WEBSITES BLOG. Hence the name BLOG POST!
it would slow psn down , cause lag in games for lots of people and all for useless information. No it isn’t connected through PSN, just this websites BLOG POST.
how would or could you possibly make use of having information of how many new accounts signed up that day? Well, its a good thing to know when fanboys go blabbering on about how great their system is, plus i like to know how my favorite company is doing.

I already said why it was pointless. Nobody needs to know these things. There is a HUGE difference between Sony telling us how successful PSN is once a year and putting out weekly updates about how many downloads there were from the PS Store. We don’t need to see how many new people signed up and we don’t need to know who keeps their PS3 on all week to get to the top of the leaderboard.
So now that I’ve told you (again) why this is pointless, why don’t you tell us why this idea is not pointless? And no, fuel for the Sony Defense Force is not a valid reason. The PS Blog doesn’t need to give out info so can fight with forum trolls.

Well at least uou getit unlike FJ1100_rider. Ok, its not pointless because 62/70 people like it, because most everything else they post is crap(no offense), to help show friends why they should get a PS3 over a 360, and it helps us get more involed with PlayStation! Also so websites like GameInformer can read it and have more accurate statements, I cant tell you how many times they get stuff wrong about PSN. Is that good enough for you? Your just another one of those HATERS going around the blog!

FJ1100_rider | July 20th, 2010 at 7:54 pm
hey , I read it wrong . sorry . thought it said psn posts on ps3 . guess I needed sleep , only had 3 hours .
now I read it again I see I was wrong about some points .
I still think knowing how many store purchases or how many signed up that week is pointless because is it for example 30,000 new sign- ups or 30,000 who open a second account and stop using the first ?

zekececil14 | July 20th, 2010 at 8:21 pm
@12
At some points it could be pointless, but they know wether its the same person or not because you have to use e-mail. I dont know for shure, but it sounds logical.

@11
1. The number of upvotes doesn’t make it any less pointless.
2. The number of downloads from the store, leaderboards of who keeps their PS3 on the longest, and the number of people to sign up for PSN each week isn’t going to impress anyone anymore than that “50 million” stat would. And it’s certainly not going to convince your friends what system to buy. They will probably care much more about what games they get on each system and who they get to play with.
3. Just because you think most of the stuff on the blog is crap, it doesn’t mean your right.
4. Knowing how many downloads there are from the store each week does not get you more involved with PS.
5. How do you know Game Informer’s stats are wrong if you have nothing to compare to?
Sorry. Still pointless.

@14
Everything you just said is based on the fact that you know everything. How do you know my friends wont buy a PS3 over a 360 because of that? How do you know those stats wouldnt impress anymore people outside of Sony? How do you know leaving your PS3 on would even work? Obviously if you thought of that, then IF they ever did this they wouldnt let that work. I knew GameInformer’s stats were wrong because they reposted with the words [UPDATE], and the update corrected some numbers. YOUR WORDS: 3. Just because you think most of the stuff on the blog is crap, it doesn’t mean your right. Ok then i can use that on you, just because you think it is pointless, it doesn’t mean your right. Lastly, how do you know its pointless? You are stating everything based from your OPINION. I mean you tried to tell me about my own friends whom you have never met. It doesnt get any more opinionated than that.

MrBeatdown | July 22nd, 2010 at 4:06 am
*sigh*
Go ask your friends if they would buy a PS3 based on how many downloads there are from the store or any of those other stats you suggested. Seriously. Go do it. Nobody with any kind of brain would buy a system based on useless stats. They’d buy a console for games. For features. They don’t give a crap if X amount of people download stuff each week. They care about what there is to download. Frankly, I’m shocked that this needs to be explained to someone.
Tell me, what’s the advantage of a knowing who on PSN has their PS3 connected to most? Are you interested who spends the most time playing their PS3? That’s not exactly something I’d want recognition for.
Your Game Informer thing is even dumber than I thought. If they corrected their numbers, then there isn’t a problem, is there?
You want to know how I know it is pointless? Because every reason you have given is nonsense. People don’t buy game consoles based on stupid stats. That’s not opinion. That’s common sense. I don’t need to meet your friends to know that they care more about games and hardware features than PSN download stats and the names of the people who spend all their time in front of their PS3.

The fact still stand that that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I would defends this untill you give up, but your just a stubborn brat. You need to take a step outside your little happy place. ITS NOT ALL ABOUT YOU! Majority of people who voted liked this, and dont tell me it doesnt matter because IT DOES! Oh and my friends would buy a PS3 knowing how many people are signing up and how active the users are because it shows them people are involed with their PS3, and it shows them that they have a HUGE oppertunity to make a lot new INVOLVED friends.

MrBeatdown | July 22nd, 2010 at 7:54 pm
Knowing the number of new people who sign up for PSN each week would make or break your friend’s decision to get a PS3? You’re telling me that if that weekly number wasn’t high enough, they would put aside all the PS3 exclusives they might want, forget the fact that they would be able to play online with you, their friend, and overlook the $50 a year Xbox Live fee and go buy a 360 instead? The 50,000,000 current PSN users aren’t enough? Are your friends aware that roughly only 10,000,000 Xbox users have Gold accounts?
Seriously? Those stats are that important of a factor in them buying a PS3?

read the whole comment next time, it says AND how active the users are. Your just talking about pieces of the idea in each comment. Put the WHOLE thing together and stop assuming everything you say, you dont know everything, you dont know what EVERYONE cares about, and you dont know if this is pointless. The only way to see if this is pointless is to post the blog for a few weeks and observe the feedback.

You know, I really don’t even know how to respond to you. You claim GI could use stats like these, even though you even said they now have correct stats. You claim these stats will encourage your friends to buy PS3s because it shows there is a large community, even though Sony has already said there are 50 million PSN accounts. You treat everything I say as if it is a wild, baseless assumption even though suggesting people buy consoles based on things like hardware and games couldn’t possibly be any more grounded in logic and common knowledge. And most ridiculous of all, you keep trying to tell me what I’m saying is opinion, as if I don’t know, even though you’re the one that took issue with my opinion and saw fit to drag an explanation out of me and told me not to vote even though the whole damn voting system is based on opinion. And then you go and site votes (basically other people’s opinions) as evidence that my opinion is wrong. I’m wasting my time with someone as oblivious to reality as you.

All i said was voting down because you wouldn’t use it could take it away from people who would. I asked you for a reason why it was pointless and you took it out of hand. I just have a pet peeve for people who vote down because they wont use it, like people who vote down Cross Game Chat because they feel comfortable using a phone. Their – vote can take away the feature for the + votes. I feel that – votes are only for real dumb ideas like Mario On The PS3, or Vibrating PS3. Save the – negative for the outrageous, and if you come across an idea you wouldnt use, support the oneswho will.
*sighs* Maybe in a perfect world.
