SOCOM 4. Push to talk Microphone communication!

Idea 35096 | Posted in , by | October 15, 2010

The title says it all. Have a microphone system in which the player pushes down a button to talk (L2) that way people are not spamming their microphones with material that doesn’t relate to the game.

Alright, so I don’t own SOCOM 4, nor do I plan to, but I don’t think I would ever want to wish PTT upon anyone, ever. PTT is just the worst type of microphone usage.

If you really don’t like it when people are off-topic, then either mute them or lighten up

Think of how annoying that would be to push a button to talk. Your problem could VERY easily be solved with Cross Game Voice Chat! XD

Cross Game Voice Chat is irrelevant to the problem he was hoping to address Zeke. It’s VERY easy to see that.

Push to talk can be quite useful.

PTT for any tactical shooter is a must. Anything else is just chaos and counterproductive to any teamwork.

PTT is a backbone of Socom games which are tactical and REQUIRE communication and teamwork to accomplish objectives. PTT serves this purpose much better than the chaotic open mics.

@liquidypoo

Even if you mute someone theyre still hogging the mic. Ive made many callouts saving lives. This couldnt be done if someone is hogging the mic, muted or not.

A great thing about Socom is playing online with random people and working together to win. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have everyone who logs into Socom on my friends list.

And that also applies to open mic and muting people. You can’t communicate if half your team is on mute.

This isn’t Hello Kitty Online where it’s acceptable to talk about what you had for lunch. This is a tactical shooter which in many cases hogging the mic can get myself or a team mate killed. PTT should be the norm for SOCOM.

Hahahaha holy hell glassjaw_, did I hit a raw nerve? You really take your video games really seriously. Video games are serious business for you.

I make fun of people like you and Dirty_Harry44. You take games way too seriously, and I find that really funny. I can just imagine you saying to yourself, “He talks about things that aren’t related to the game he’s playing? He must be playing Hello Kitty Online,” while wearing the smuggest look on your face possible, and I gotta tell you, that’s just about the silliest thing I can think of. I’ll repeat myself: lighten up.

You can really tell which people never played the previous Socom games because they think PTT impedes gameplay. What impedes gameplay is trying to find the person on the list you are trying to mute during the game. Seriously, PTT is not a bad thing. It’s really nice not hearing peoples heavy breathing, loud music, random profanity, or them yelling to their mom for more hotpockets over an open mic. But if they do have open mic they should have it where you can go into a different channels like you could in the previous Socom games.

The last thing we need is fanboys sugarcoating it and voting against PTT just to say everything Sony does is perfect, you people are ruining SOCOM and chances are those supporting all the changes don’t even plan on buying the game! Shut it and let the grown ups talk.

SOCOM is not about “owning” someone else online or whatever you believe you do in Modern Warfare noob auto aim fest… It’s about team work and communication management is part of it.

bring back the circle button. I hate open mics little kids will ruin this makes your mic useless because some ahole gets on there and will not ever shut up or blares his crap music so loud you take your headset off and turn down your TV. PLease don’t change the basic stuff that made socom great
