Internal Storage in Vita and/or CHEAP Memory Cards

Idea 47369 | Posted in by | June 14, 2011

Please have at least 8GBs of internal storage. Vita will have downloadable games from the PS Store, and it is a media device. It only makes sense. People also have PSP games to use on it.

the one thing thats holding me back from buying day one is that there is no internal memory. come on sony, how much songs, videos, photos do you thing that 32gb will hold. eventually more space will be needed why not put some alredy in the system. you did it for the pspgo. i have a feeling you guys are going to hold out until the second gen of the pspvita to put some in, ill just wait. you guys were so close, you almost had me in. i want internal space. alot of it

I think that it is necessary that PS Vita has 16gb or more of Internal storage (32gb would be the best)! please, Sony give us that!

Yea, Internal storage is the one thing keeping me from getting the Vita once I’m able to.

I would rather have 32GB minimum also, but at the same time, I’d rather have something rather than nothing. It can’t be too expensive to add internal storage, can it?

Even a few GB would be better than nothing.

I don’t mind swapping out memory cards when carrying a lot of games and movies, but I’d still like to have an amount of internal storage for essential games and songs

I’m good with memory sticks. Just make sure you guys make a cheap 64 GB micro memory stick. Mine is only 16 GB.

I would like to have at least 32GB internal memory but it probably won’t have it because the memory card it takes (looks like an SD card from san disk) is from 4GB to 32GB. I think they should at least have a 40-60 GB memory card. don’t you guys

Well if i right sony had plan to have Memory Stick with 1TB of data and what sony should do is make that happen and sell 1TB memory stick for about good price so everyone can have 1TB in there PS Vita. Have all PSVita models come with 16GB or 32GB for free to put there games on and ect. Wifi model will get 16GB at max and the 3G model should get 32GB sense it will have more software on it then wifi model.

I think there should be internal memory that the developers can depend on being there, no matter what ps vita redesign comes along.

My ideal setup would to have the internal memory upgradable so that I could load everything on to my psp, and not have to carry extra cards or cartridges.

It’s got to be upgradable because initially no one will want to or will need to buy 32GB drives for their systems, but as the platform matures, people will fill up their cards and have a need to either buy more cards or upgrade the internal SDD/HDD.

From what i’ve heard vita was supposed to arrive with 16GB internal memory and have 512MB
video/game memory but to compete with 3ds the 512 MB was halved and they lost the internal 16GB STORAGE altogether.

This is from the rumor mill and i’ve yet to confirm it but what i absolutely need myself is for every game to support a resistance level customization or for it to be part of your psn profile because without it i simply can’t play dual analog games.

How do i survive on ps3 then with a fully custom out of the box 3rd party pad without which i couldn’t play dual analog ps3 games.

Here’s hoping.

“From what i’ve heard vita was supposed to arrive with 16GB internal memory”

nope

“but to compete with 3ds the 512 MB was halved”

Nope, devs confirmed it has more RAM than PS3 (so 1024 MB)

If this is not in, I will simply not buy it. I have about 10 gigs of games purchased from the store. I don’t want to shell out 100$ for a 4 gig memory card, (looking at you origanal psp)

weedbeaner  |  June 20th, 2011 at 8:28 pm

From what I heard was the Vita is going to use proprietary memory cards. I think the cards should be 8 gigs, 16 gigs, and 32 gigs. That sounds reasonable, right. :)

I heard the Vita will have two memory slots. One for games (like Nintendo DS) and the other for just everyday memory.

I agree. Sony needs to pony up. Maybe 4 X-Mas. Until then, I’m holding on to my PSPgo. I knew there had to be a catch with the price. Even the PSPgo, with memory is still about 200. The “?” is, do I trade in my Go for the price of memory plus pay extra for games or wait? I’m leaning towards the latter.

it’s not going to happen… unless Sony has been holding onto one more secret, I don’t see why they would add another cost to the console when they’ve hit the right price point and still aren’t going to be making a profit (per console) for a few years… I think we have a better chance of getting Sony to focus on beefier memory cards (or sticks or whatever the new storage will be called)… I’d like 64gb to be honest, but 32gb aint bad for a start…

secrets sony have i know them all and there is nothing sony can hid from my eyes, ears, rumors, saying its not true. Sony i am every way and the eye see all as all sees the eye.

:) If u guys want to know what it has then ask me on PS3 then on mic chat. I know all about the PSVita sense day one. My info is 100% right 60% chance of the time.

Adding internal memory will force the cost of the unit up which Sony don’t want to do especially when stores will probably have SD card bundles. I agree to some extent however, a 32GB SD card will mean not a lot of video / audio. Hmm..

21

UltWarrior1  |  March 5th, 2012 at 1:03 pm

Internal memory does NOT need to be added, however the memory card prices NEED to be dropped! Once they’re dropped or included in a $250 bundle, thats when the masses may decide to purchase. Deals on the memory are incoming. The question is whether SCEA will wait until the holidy season to drop the prices of memory.

SD cards cost the company almost nothing to make… and they are charging us up the a**hole to buy REQUIRED memory cards? Some games you can’t even play without the cards… It’s insulting. Look… I can get a 32GB micro SD card with a regular SD card adapter for $50… that’s HALF the cost of the Vita’s 32GB and STILL LESS THAN THE 16GB… What the hell Sony… It’s offensive to me and it’s offensive to all gamers, vita owners or not. We, the consumers and loyal Sony product owners, are not stupid. We won’t stand for this crap. The prices need to drop and they need to drop now. I know this isn’t a place to rant, this is a place to suggest things to you… but I know the majority of my fellow gamers will agree. Fix this Sony, or lose faithful Sony customers.

Yes Sony, please. I want to buy games from PSN but with the price of the memory cards is impracticable… The prices need to drop.

I understand that proprietary memory is a way Sony can recoup some of the costs associated with the Vita but the price of these cards is impacting the number of people who can afford to purchase a Vita. Coupled with the fact there is no internal memory, making Vita memory cards a requirement, many gamers simply cannot afford to buy this awesome handheld. I love my Vita but I’m limited to what I can do with it since all I can afford is the bundled 4GB card I got at my local retailer. I want to use this device for movies, downloaded PSN games, music, all the things that make a portable Playstation experience amazing but I simply cannot justify over $100 after taxes on 32GB of memory. Sony needs higher capacity cards (32GB should be the second tier card, with 64GB & 128GB as the upper-tier). You can charge $100 for those upper-tier but 32GB should only be around $20-30 in this day and age. Please Sony, help us gamers get in to the PSV experience and lower these memory card costs.

You guys realize internal storage leads to an easily hackable machine? The PSP GO says hi

shogrran  |  January 6th, 2013 at 1:56 am

Internal memory is a standard already for mobile devices. Is the psvita the only high end mobile device that doesn’t have internal memory? All that high end capabilities… no internal memory.

I agree that the prices are a bit steep and it needs to be lowered. If Sony isn’t willing to lower the price right away than I would like to propose a suggestion to be implemented almost immediately.

Why not offer PSN cash/credit with every card purchase depending on the capacity of the card? For example, $30 PSN credit for the 32GB card and $15 credit for the 16GB card, etc.

You can eighter include the code inside the package or the store can give you the code themselves.

If not PSN credit which I think is a brilliant idea than at the very least free months of Plus depending on the capacity of the card.

Please think about this.
