i still want a socom 2 remake, but i voted yes for this. the reason why i want the socom 2 remake is simple, many more maps and many more features in socom 2. i need to relive playin pistols only and no bombs rooms like i did in s2, s1 you just couldnt do these things, on top of many others

I think this would be the single greatest installment of SOCOM. With so many DLC content packages, and such a large active community it should be a no brainer. After the screw ups on confrontation, and now SOCOM 4, it is long over due that the SOCOM fans get the game they deserve!

I’ll give away all other games because the only reason i bought the ps3 is for a great socom game once again. i’m still waiting. these last two attemps where not like the first two socom games. now there is less hardcore navy seals abilities, like climbing over big walls or on rooftops and leaning even when you’re prone. also the land mines are gone and rain! i loved it when you had to play in the rain. life like experiences like that.

This isn’t going to happen.. Sony doesn’t care and neither does Zipper.. Socom is Dead and forever it shall be.. XBox 720 ( or what ever they are going to call it ) is on the Horizon and the next gen systems are already here..

I’ll help out the cause. Because there is truly only one shooter that destroys every shooter out there and that Brand name is called SOCOM ( talking about the originals ie, SOCOM 1 And SOCOM 2 )..

Remake SOCOM. Call it SOCOM: US NAVY SEALS, make it play like the original socom, give it all the same weapons, all the same controls, all the same maps and game types (suppression the way it used to be, none of this bunk ass who has the most kills bs), make the lobbies the same. All you should do is upgrade the environments and characters to a modern level, and integrate its community features to work with PSN.

You’d get $60 from me + some DLC MAPS dough.

Every game in the SOCOM series was marred by technical problems, and as a result the review scores the game got was due to that.

Then came SOCOM 4, which was flawed in the core design, and was reviewed poorly as such. Many reviewers even remarked how far the game had fallen.

If Confrontation’s bugs weren’t a smack in a face to Playstation’s first and most fanatic franchise. Imagine the grief over a numbered game in the series being such a departure from the previous games.

With few “classic” features remaining, the game is more so a hodgepodge of from other games thrown together in poor fashion. It’s few saving graces, both in the eyes of the fans and the reviewers, are the remaining “classic” features.

Do the right thing Sony; it’s not only the right thing to do for your fans, it makes financial sense.

There is an increasing demand for a MATURE, strategic, tactical, thinking man’s game. Everyone needs to be on a level playing field, where no one person equipment can completely dominate someone who never played. It should come down to one’s gun game not equipment.

Would love to see this happen. Prefer Socom 2 multiplayer over Socom 1 though. This is one title I would even pay to play…IF it was an actual Socom game, and properly supported. Not the Luisi inspired frankenstein COD/MAG/Ghost Recon/Rainbow 6 games he keeps trying to force on us.

I could see why they wouldnt want a proper ps3 version of Socom. Its about the money. When I think back to my ps2 time, I dont think the Socom 2 disc left the tray for anything other than smackdown vs raw/star wars battlefront. I never even looked at most of the other games released until Socom became a glitch fest. I thought at times that perhaps the cheat codes used on Socom could have been pushed out by Sony/Zipper to force us to move on and buy S3/Combined Assault/Confrontation.

Even thought I like the idea, I think it would be better a remake of the first game, instead of an HD port for the PS3. Considering how Socom 4 is selling (I like it), it looks like the series needs a new beginning/reboot; so I think this is the chance to do so.

This would be great!!! Most of the latest socom games haven’t been as great as the early ones, except for the ones on the PSP because it’s fun to have those when you’re not home.

Got my vote.. even if all the people whining about s4 and ruining the socom boards really are killing socom more than anything zipper ever did…. I still love the old socoms and want the game to be more like the old games just like every other (sane) longtime socom player does. Lobbies and all the classic maps in HD would be beautiful. And good point with this post… socom 1 WAS the first online game for the ps2 I think… and the most popular online shooter…. I think it’s about time SONY R E S P E C T E D this game+series and gave more time+attention to it. There’s no game like Socom on the consoles…………. and yet sony has NOT taken advantage of that. Where’s the marketing, where’s the PRIDE in having the first+BEST TEAM based shooter for consoles!!!?????

Porshce if you really think a couple hundred people complaining on a Socom forum that no one beside Socomers goes to is what caused the death of S4 you are a complete moron. If you want a more turthful reason for what ruined Socom 4 it would be the piss poor generic gameplay with the most generic mirror maps ever seen in a video game along with a ton of bugs and missing features. Zipper killed Socom with a embarassing amatuer effort. If the Socom boards stayed silent with no complaints it would have sold just as bad because that’s what horrible games do, they don’t sell.
