This is definitely a good idea. For example, my friend’s PS3 is currently broken (unhappy face) so I am currently in the process of filling up his mailbox with (friendly) spam, which he can’t get rid of or even see until he gets his PS3 fixed. This wouldn’t be an issue if he could see his messages on playstation.com.

Some parts of Sony get this. The Everquest 2 web sites, though a bit byzantine to navigate, have very nice integration of the web and launcher with the in-game chat system. I would love to see something similar on the PS3.

@liquidypoo Would you want your online friends mixing with real life ones? Personally I wouldn’t, so a new service with a greater passion to connect gamers through Home and the online world would, in my view, be a gd idea. Plus the idea of keeping in touch with fellow gamers whilst away from the PS3 excites me as not everyone uses the forums. Sony showed a website idea way back at E3 2007 when Home was shown to the public so surely they had a plan at some point

Interconnectivity needs to be everywhere with Playstation IMO. This is just one aspect of it.

God I was just about to submit this after I had the need to do it, my bro is on my ps3 while my friends keep sending me messages. I can’t respond and he won’t do it for me. So yea this would be an absolute blessing if it were to be integrated.

I personally hate the way messages are implemented on PS3.

If you read a message and press circle, you get thrown back to the main “Friends” menu and in order to read the next unread message you have to delve into the stupid menu again, wait for the Received, Sent, Create Message menu to load, go into Received, wait till all the messages load again… And of course it’s 10 times worse if you are inside a game. Seriously, it’s 2011 and not 1991.

As all the messages are stored online anyway, it shouldn’t be a big problem to add a section on my PSN web page.

I really REALLY want this feature, it would open the door to messaging on smartphones too, and ofcourse be able to contact friends from your PC or laptop. I was on vacation and for some reason remote play was not working on my PSP, even though it worked closer to home. I had no way to communicate with my best friend! Anyway I’d really appreciate anywhere PS3 messaging, and text chat function also. This would be such a lifesafer, please make it happen!

It’s the year 2012 and we still can’t do this? Even if you (Sony) won’t implement this for PS3, please make this, along with other great user ideas a reality for the PS4. Even small ideas can have a great positive effect for your current and hopefully future customers.
