I would like to see a Steam App on the PlayStation 3 that would allow us to see our Steam PC friends list and a store for their digital games.

Well, if Sony & Valve work together since the PS3 is an open platform, you might be surprised to see Steam on the XMB via firmware update.

We will never get all games because the PS3 has a very different CPU from Windows and Mac PCs. However, if the Source engine is ported to the PS3 we could in theory get all the Source based games. I would love to see better integration with Steam and more games. So here is hoping Portal 2 for the PS3 sells really well.

If that happens sony would make pay some rollalityes for every game sold.

I don’t think Sony would put the Steam store on the PS3, but you never know. But whatever the Steam integration thing with the PSN is, I’ll be surprised if it didn’t give you special unlocks in Team Fortress 2 for the PC.

Would mind this myself. It’d be cool if future Valve games used this App, and maybe allow you to chat with friends you have on your pre-existing Steam account.
This is a very good idea, but I’m not exactly sure if we’ll be seeing anything like this on the PS3. If it ever were to happen, it’d be on the PS4.

Sure, unlikely to happen, but I’ll take Steam anywhere.
Aw my ole pal Mad Meat. You never responded to my response to your comment on the idea titled “More Family Friendly Games from Best Sony Studios”. I was so disappointed.

Well…Steam integration is coming with Portal 2, so this may be in the cards if Valve gets interested in the NGP.

That would be a great service for ngp & is possible to run on a mobile device like ngp that’s what apps are for people.

MadMeat001 | February 11th, 2011 at 6:57 pm
I always wanted that for the original psp

NissanFlyboy | February 12th, 2011 at 10:48 pm
I this it would work well, but only as an app.
If you saying this should be built in, I think that would be a horrible idea, and it’ll never happen. +1 for app version

To my understanding steam will be using your psn account as of portal 2 if your on psn then you’re on steam.
While that’s for ps3 i would expect it on a next gen psp.

it would also be neat to be able to spend money in your psn account on steam this way, then you wouldn’t need a credit card or paypal account

I’d like to merge my two account also, especially if that could help me change my nickname

Id like it better if i were able to merge the 2 accounts but this will suffice

jose213jose | October 9th, 2011 at 1:37 am
yea i would to have this happen, both account as one. If their did then we can use both on PSN & Steam with the same E-Mail & passwords. Thats sounds good to me, as long we user don’t get things taking way.

I truly don’t see how this would be possible unless Sony buys Valve… which I don’t see happening…
This is wishful thinking…

I think this is an inevitable outcome. Consumers are becoming more “social” and whichever major platform implements this type of cross integration first will capitalize on a situation that adds value to the platforms for the shared customer base, thereby mutually benefiting both platforms.
I’m not much of a “social network” user, but I do use both PSN and Steam all the time, and it would seem to only make sense that someday, my friend will be playin on the PC, and see me pop online on my vita, he may consider starting up his ps3 and playin a game with me.
My only worry is if there is another security breach I don’t want my ENTIRE online life stolen because all my social/email/gaming accounts were compromised by one organization. If that threat can be eliminated, I see this as being a great feature, but the threat would need to be eliminated by all parties involved to truly be a worry free submission of login and pw data, which could be difficult to ensure quality, let-alone implement.
thats just my thoughts on the matter.

Well both party’s will need to lay down the table on how its going to work. Sony is going to need to step up their game to make sure we all are safe from hackers and are info don’t get stole like lost time. And sony terms thing about not sueing them need to be remove. Why i said that is becuase if u had 100Million $ in your account right now and it got stole u just got hit. Now u want to sue sony but their thing won’t let u, u end up broke all because of sony.
That will make news and guess what Sony will be getting alot problems if that happen right now. Anything can happen, thats why i don’t use my card no more, i buy PSN cards of 50$ monthly so i am good.

You can log-on as ether Steam or PSN, download their games to the Vita to play. You can pick to log-on as ether so accounts are not join together but are part of each other which is together. Hope you understand what i mean by this and if not let me know.

This is basically asking Sony to buy out Valve… Would be cool but doubt it happens.

Dean-antip0p | November 6th, 2011 at 5:05 pm
I doubt that would ever happen but connectivity with Steam like they’re doing with Portal 2, and Counter-strike GO. But with every game that is equal (content wise)would be truly nice!

Yes, it would be great if PSN linked accounts with Steam so games purchased on one platform could be played on the other. According to most software license agreements, you don’t actually own the software you’re purchasing, you’re merely paying for the right to USE that software. So it stands to reason that if you buy a game on one system, that license agreement grants you the right to play it on ANY system for which it is available. Make it happen, Sony!

TSTina | February 26th, 2012 at 6:08 pm
Steam already allows games purchased on the PC to be played on the Mac, if a Mac version is available. Why not do the same for games that are available on both the PC and PS3? You could buy a game on one system and be able to play it on the other.

Steam on PS3 and PSVita would be super awesome but i can see some flaws unless their both can handle most of the gaming power.
