could you make a update on ps3,it should have a option to put your game on the ps3 so you don’t need to have the disk inside the ps3 so you can play games even if its scratched

This would result in people renting/borrowing games and installing them on their PS3′s. It would be a nice feature, but it just isn’t plausible.

+themawth Why not just say what you’re trying to say:
“Please Sony, allow piracy on your flagship!”

The only way I could see this working in the manner you described, (i.e scratch, lost, or stolen disk) would be if Sony “Locked” the game disk to one console or PSN ID, during “Online” installation/activation. Meaning, the disk is then afterwards rendered useless to anyone but your console or PSN ID. But remember if this ever happened/happens in the future, Imagine what it would do to retailers like GameStop, who sell used games? For now just stick to buying PSN games online if later disk problems are your concern.

This could work nicely by including a redeemable code that comes in the box with game. It would give the option to download the game content from the PS Store or install directly from the disc itself. It would work the same way as the Digital Copy option does with iTunes or Ultraviolet.

Half Thumbs up as I have small children who are heartbroken over siblings who have mistreated discs.
You would still need to insert the disc to play, but if the disc was damaged, it wouldn’t matter.

1 Word: Piracy
If this was an option then pirated ps3 games would go through the roof… however a better idea would be: Install the games and then just insert the game’s disc to get access to the installed software (decreases loading time as well)

why would you want to put mess up disc inside? it will just damage the laser.

This might be a good idea, but it might not be good for them since this could cause piracy. And also what would be the point of having the disk the rest of time?

I support this Idea, but quickly agree with that is would support pirate copies from renting games or borrowing your friends games. They would lose too much in sales even if they started adding CD-Keys to games which would either promote rental versions that can’t be copied or kill rental companies.
