PS4 MP3 support

Idea 71427 | Posted in by | May 21, 2014

Please enable MP3 support on the PS4. A music visualizer would be nice, too.

Update: The USB Music Player feature was included with PS4 system software update 2.00, codenamed “Masamune.”

How about audio CD support? It was kind of sad the other day i had to use my brothers XB1 to sample a new CD, i was also shocked to see that PS4 doesnt support that, kind of pathetic and embarrassing not just to the PlayStation name but to me i had a few friend over when we all witnessed that horrible unsupported statement… Im also now afraid to try any other other type of disc, (dvd, bluray) just out of fear of more disapointment… PS4 has been a big let down in this 1st year…

This is not sufficient. Where is the native MP3 support so that games like MLB The Show can use it for sounds of the show,

We need LOCAL .MP3 support, please! Playback from a USB memory stick is antiquated and archaic, not to mention a blatant slap in the face.

LOCAL playback support please. Why is this issue closed?

This should not be closed. A lot of sport games use music files stored on our HDD as in-game music. Make this happen before WWE2k16, please! My created wrestlers suffer without their proper entrance music!

I love that this is still here as an Idea in Action, even after they’ve removed it.

I wish Sony would bring back the USB Music Player app to the PS4. The existing Media Player app is buggy with the following issues when compared to the USB Music Player app:
1) When navigating around the PS4 the currently playing music track skips in Media Player. In the USB Music Player, the music tracks played smoothly without any skipping when navigating around the PS4.
2) When switching from a game to the Media Player app, the PS4 suspends the existing game. The USB Music Player allowed switching between itself and games without suspending the games.
