Pandora Radio on PS3

Idea 3972 | Posted in , , , , by | March 18, 2010

It would be awesome if sony got Pandora radio onto the ps3. So many other places have it such as my phone, ipod, and computer–why not my ps3 as well?

phatmercado  |  March 18th, 2010 at 4:56 pm

I stream Pandora from the browser of my PS3.

chainlink13  |  March 18th, 2010 at 4:59 pm

What about background Pandora playing while you play any game? That’d be sweet, and hopefully the intent of what you’re asking for.

Vernon_Hardapple  |  March 18th, 2010 at 5:07 pm

It streams through the browser with no problem. I would think embedding it into the OS would pretty easy.

T3mpr1x  |  March 18th, 2010 at 6:04 pm

Yes! This would be great, especially if it could be used as the custom music soundtrack.

DonCalzone21  |  March 18th, 2010 at 6:27 pm

I use Pandora on my PS3 all the time, it already works fine

favian  |  March 18th, 2010 at 6:47 pm

would rather use

cell989  |  March 18th, 2010 at 7:03 pm

we shouldnt have to use our browser to do pandora, should be a separate app

lswanson1  |  March 18th, 2010 at 7:13 pm

Actually, Grooveshark would be much better then Pandora. Alot of people havent heard of it but it has a radio feature and a create your own playlist feature….all for free.

drdre74  |  March 18th, 2010 at 7:28 pm

works fine as is and as far as playing games with pandora on doubt that would happen. Even on the iphone you cant play pandora without the app open.

Pacman33  |  March 18th, 2010 at 8:04 pm

What’s with the needing an app for everything? I have pandora in my favorites, so it takes 2 clicks to get it going. It’s the same for facebook, but some act like they have to have the pretty little icon to use it. If it’s super easy for them to do, then go ahead, but if not why bother.

aVeRsioN_X  |  March 18th, 2010 at 9:23 pm

wouldnt be a bad idea to have this.

SLURPEE__QUEEN  |  March 18th, 2010 at 9:30 pm

WHY NOT MUSIC IN personal home ‘s?????????????

fuzzyclutter  |  March 18th, 2010 at 10:15 pm

excellent idea ! . yes pandora is MOSTLY functional through the PS3 browser , however there are a number of things that do not work . Full compatibility would be desirable including the ability to purchase . No … pandora does not have a playlist … but that would be counterdictive to its own purpose which is to inject and introduce listeners to new songs/artists in with ones that are similar to the listeners tastes … better than a playlist really . since you really dont know what your going to get .

Logical_Dolphin  |  March 18th, 2010 at 11:14 pm

Sony already as a relationship with Slacker radio, so I would think that option is more likely to happen…

COMBATCSOLDIER  |  March 18th, 2010 at 11:27 pm

decent idea but already accessible through browser

Culoslap  |  March 18th, 2010 at 11:53 pm

It would be great if Pandora was available on the XMB.

permutated  |  March 19th, 2010 at 5:33 am

Pandora works perfectly in the browser, just bookmark it.

Absolutely no reason to have them spend development time or cost on a GUI when it works so well already.

armyinf227  |  March 19th, 2010 at 5:34 am

A pandora app that’s accesible in game would be the best!

solo013  |  March 20th, 2010 at 12:56 am

I’m fine using pandora in the browser. I actually prefer using winamp to stream a media server. It’s the best I’ve found. What needs to be done is scrobbling.

phinnv8  |  March 20th, 2010 at 1:27 pm

Absolutely… Especially since Xbox has built in. It’s amazingly stupid that Sony hasn’t integrated something like this by now.

Inle_Rabbit  |  March 21st, 2010 at 11:28 am

i love this idea Pandora out does lastFM and any other that makes there claim by a mile
because they actually make good on there promise to find you more music that you will love based on what you listen to

GPAULO  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 4:51 pm

Not only Pandora or LastFM, but would be nice to have a place to include online radios, so you can select and listen any time, including while playing.

kyuubi_9t  |  March 29th, 2010 at 10:16 pm

Pandora app with the ability to view the songs that friends listen to.

kadath217  |  April 5th, 2010 at 1:19 pm

This would be great. Contrary to other commenters, Pandora does not work perfectly in the browser. The playback hiccups every time you click to see more info about an artist or song, and some other website features do not work. I would love to see something where I could purchase a song through Pandora and download it straight to my PS3.

Sir_Vague  |  April 5th, 2010 at 9:14 pm

Would be amazing if we could have a low-impact pandora player whilst playing games or browsing the XMB.

mgsfoxhound2  |  April 14th, 2010 at 2:30 am

ps3 already has this feature through web browser

BalramRules  |  April 15th, 2010 at 10:47 am

we got it thru the browser, yh, but we want it, whilst we’re surfin and usin the XMB Display, so just incorporate it within its OS, simple, I know we can do this through the browser, but don’t u wanna do OTHER stuff whilst listenin to the Pandora Radio?

Thumbs Up for the idea XD
My vote’s urs =P

eeyore151  |  April 23rd, 2010 at 12:15 pm

I like this idea only if it can be used as background music while playing a game, not just through the browser. Would help with the tedium of grinding in RPGs.

Scooby2pt5  |  May 16th, 2010 at 12:45 pm

yes, we all know it’s available through the browser, but it would be so much easier if there was a ‘desktop’ app like Pandora One for the computer.

And as kadath stated, it’s not perfect. Lot’s of hiccups and stops playing when you go to another tab. that’s NOT convenient.

BlooodyCow  |  May 23rd, 2010 at 11:40 am

Yeah this would be a pretty cool idea

Eric_Santos  |  May 26th, 2010 at 2:26 pm

If the PS3 aims to be a multimedia hub, it really should do Radio-like things too, even if it’s only webradio.

It wouldn’t hurt to port/enhance the PSP radio app, and, why not, the visual audio player too.

Vasquez-  |  May 31st, 2010 at 12:19 am

Does anyone know if the premium service of Pandora One works on the regular browser of the PS3?

No1ThoughtOfThis  |  June 15th, 2010 at 11:27 pm

well pandora works great on the ps3 for parties but if ur browsing and go to another tab it stops. the psp does not do this for internet radio tho so i know they are capable of fixing that

No1ThoughtOfThis  |  June 15th, 2010 at 11:34 pm

then again, if u want music playing on any page u can just hit the PS button and play music like that while surfing the web but u have to have the sound to the correct setting tho (i forget but ill get back to u on that one)

Finaldeath1689  |  July 5th, 2010 at 12:41 am

I would love pandora radio to be on ps3, just don’t go the same route as xbox and do

Personally i can’t stand, it is kind of confusing to use, pandora radio is incredibly simple, just type an artist or song name and bam you get a station with songs related to that artist/song.

jsh0284  |  July 5th, 2010 at 5:16 am

This may not help any of you but perhaps something to consider. I actually have my computer hooked up to my HDTV along with my PS3 with 2 HDMI ports. I just load Pandora through the comp and use some headphones while playing the games.. But I do definitely agree it would be nice if there was just simply an app where I could use pandora on the ps3 while playing games… This is just a thought if you’re looking for a solution for now though.

righello  |  July 10th, 2010 at 9:31 pm

Why hasn’t this been done already?? [ and 8tracks would be cool, as well.]

seether141  |  July 15th, 2010 at 12:37 pm

Grooveshark???? well at least i would use that one more or maybe just have both 🙂

Ramage  |  August 22nd, 2010 at 7:55 pm

I’d like to see this in app form as well. They have it on their TVs and Blu-Ray players under music so why not on the PS3? Only makes sense.

I shouldn’t have to go to the browser, navigate to pandora’s site, and enter my user information when i want to listen to music. It should be an app right in the music section. Simple and sensible.

Cse7en_C7  |  August 30th, 2010 at 4:24 pm

When I think of technology and just cool things PS3 folding@home and Pandora are top 10(even when I only owned a 360 that was true) we already have folding@home, add a native Pandora app and things will really be moving forward!

WBrian94  |  September 12th, 2010 at 4:28 pm

I concur. Internet radio is catching on with all of the new smart phones coming on to the market. Microsoft as recognized this by adding to the xbox but there should be multiple options that are easy to use. Personally i think is a little harder to use than Pandora but makes up for it with excellent background art and artist information. Development costs could be offset by advertisements or a pay option which is why i am confused why Sony and Microsoft have not done this already for a cut of the revenues. Sadly, i believe it will come about but not after lengthy bickering over the profit share.

madracng  |  October 5th, 2010 at 11:12 am

Question…I just purchased a PS3. I have Pandora streaming to my home theater system but it only seems to stream in Stereo (only front two speakers are providing music). Does Pandora only stream in Stereo? No sub or rear speaker channels? My receiver shows all 5 speakers active. All other music/audio sources work fine. Thanks…MD

VegCrow  |  November 8th, 2010 at 2:56 pm

I use the PS3 browser, however for the non-technical people in my home, training them to navigate away from the Music menu, open the browser, hit the Select key to open the shortcuts, accept the plug-in prompt, and then use the joystick and X button to select a station is unacceptable. And that’s just the minimal Pandora functionality. We need a native app under the Music menu that is intuitively designed to utilize the default PS3 game controller. If Sony truly wants the PS3 to be an entertainment center and not just a video game system, they need to step up.

gregatron1  |  November 19th, 2010 at 9:04 am

I can’t believe that this hasn’t been included yet. Get on it Mr. Butler.

S1GN0TE  |  November 24th, 2010 at 1:42 am

luisoe1975  |  November 27th, 2010 at 9:00 am

Hi there…I just get my new PS3, anyone knows why cannot stream pandora.

Smurfy142  |  November 27th, 2010 at 9:46 am

Sure you can stream through the browser, but I would love to see an app where you can listen to Pandora while browsing other sites or playing games.

luisoe1975  |  November 27th, 2010 at 10:55 am
