Wireless controller de-sync option

Idea 4127 | Posted in , by | March 18, 2010

When you hold the HOME button on a wireless controller such as the sixaxis or dualshock3, there should be a new option to remove the sync between the wireless controller and the ps3 console.

almighty-slayer  |  March 18th, 2010 at 1:16 pm

Why would you want to do that?

MVashM  |  March 18th, 2010 at 1:21 pm

This feature is especially important in tournaments such as the fighting games tournament EVO. Having an option to de-sync will eliminate the risk of accidentally interrupting someone’s match if it was played on a ps3 console that you used before and still have your wireless controller synced to it.

cell989  |  March 18th, 2010 at 1:27 pm

yeah this avoids turning on the wrong ps3

DaRabidDuckie  |  March 18th, 2010 at 1:51 pm

This is a fantastic idea. It’d help out a major tournaments, where it’s not uncommon to see matches get interrupted because someone’s still-synched pad comes on during a match.

I mean come on, the Wii does it! Wii!

MrChapel  |  March 18th, 2010 at 11:39 pm

There is already a reset button on the controller.

MVashM  |  March 19th, 2010 at 12:21 am

I tried the reset button you are talking about and it doesn’t seem to de-sync the controller. it only turns it off.

radicaledward101  |  March 19th, 2010 at 2:51 am

How is this negative? There is no reason for new options to not be a good idea.

Smashbro29  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 5:19 pm

I like this, so simple yet so effective.

Nagoo81  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 5:22 pm

UPVOTE for Great Justice! Don’t let people sabotage tournaments by pressing their still sync’d DS3s and causing random pauses.

Roku78  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 5:32 pm

This is a great feature that i hope gets implemented. it would be great for tournaments.

Jarvdawg  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 5:32 pm

Who is downvoting this? This feature would be highly appreciated for tournament players who do not want to disrupt matches.

MalicePA  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 5:36 pm

For tournaments, this would be a desparately needed feature to avoid random XMB presses that pause gameplay that could effect the outcome of a match.

And I don’t get the negative votes. This is a much needed, simple feature that would save alot of headaches and needing people to sync their controllers on a separate machine.

Jo0b4k4  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 5:52 pm

To all you people who think this is a bad idea or are telling us to use the reset button and what not, we have a huge community that has already tried all the options we can to for this purpose. We wouldn’t have brought this up if we had already tried the available options given to us at hand.

SolidSoul650x  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Yes. Even when you turn off a controller it stays synced to the last system it was plugged into. What will happen in a tournament environment is that when you turn the controller back on and hit home it will automatically start the home menu that will interrupt a in progress match.

KatazTrophee  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 6:13 pm

Honestly, this is a fantastic idea and it wouldn’t hurt anything to have it.

Meljin  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 6:18 pm

Upvoted. If tourny players are saying this is an issue, then this is a legit issue.

Polic  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 6:32 pm

I’m fan of this idea. I have 2 PS3’s and I take controllers back and forth between the 2. This would help me out immensely by not accidentally turning one on while playing the other.

RVAkuma  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 6:58 pm

1:51 into this vid should answer your question and the questions of anyone who thinks it’s either not needed or doesn’t matter. this happened as a result of someone who was not playing and probably had a controller in their backpack hitting the home button on a synched pad at the worst possible time. up vote.

Audible_Fury  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 7:25 pm

Yah this seems like a good idea I am sure it would be easy to address.

I-IAV  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 7:41 pm

No downside to this option at all.

NeCrO-XyStEr  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 7:43 pm

This would be awesome. I go over to friends houses a lot and vice-versa. It gets annoying when you leave and ur controller turns on their ps3 and stuff

XavierRose3001  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 8:00 pm

It’s an excellent idea and would be a major benefit to tournament play…at this point I’ll take this option over cross game voice chat! lets see it!

pinakaguwaping  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 8:07 pm

Yes please. It’s either this or non-dongled wireless controllers (Dualshock 3/Sixaxis) will end up being banned in tournaments.

QWEDLVKJS  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 8:25 pm

yeap i once had someone elses ps3 controller pause a tourney match right near the end, sucks

Dan_CiTi  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 8:38 pm

I voted up for it. This would fantastic if you guys could roll this out before EVO this year.

Osirun  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 8:41 pm

This would be an excellent addition that would be greatly appreciated by the competitive community.

Laban-  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Voted up, I guess haters gonna hate

Kinjutsumaru  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 8:53 pm

I voted up. That would be a nice addition. How the hell is having an extra feature a negative thing ?

hag007  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 9:09 pm

hell yeah anybody that votes no is a idiot

Nyawu  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 10:25 pm

This is such a good idea when I have PS3 gatherings with more than one PS3. So sick of people pausing the other TV when they push the PS button by accident/trying to sync up with the other TV. DESYNC OPTION DO WANT.

u-d-0-n  |  March 22nd, 2010 at 10:47 pm

de-sync NEEDS to be available, ’nuff said

OOFMATIC  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 1:01 am

It’s a huge nuisance when somebody accidentally interrupts a tournament match. I hope they add this feature.

MAXXCHAOS  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 2:13 am

this is a good idea…..why the negativity!?!

GibbShift  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 2:30 am

Was at Final Round when this went down. Please vote this up. There’s literally no reason to vote it down.

Superfurix  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 3:14 am

FANTASTIC idea! This is something that is NEEDED. God knows how many times I have interrupted my brother’s games on his PS3 when trying to turn on the other PS3 in my house.

This is also an excellent idea for tournament organizers, where you have about 10 or more PS3s running at once.

Malcolm-Harper  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 4:54 am

good idea its just a mess at tourny’s.

i dont think this sould be a problem for a regular firmware update.

N-Matthias  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 10:19 am

Is there any point to voting this down at all?

Why not have an option that helps people and adds a simple functionality?

Kurushii-kun  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 12:01 pm

A much needed feature for tourney play.

D0N_757  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 3:59 pm

Tournaments aside its still a good idea. I remember one time I had my controller in my pocket and it turned my Ps3 on (in my 2 story house) while I was driving away in my car… This would really help.

THEJOHNNYOHM  |  March 23rd, 2010 at 10:22 pm

Voted up. Not only would this benefit tournament play but be a huge convenience when I bring my DS3’s with me to a friend’s.

omegasc  |  March 29th, 2010 at 2:41 pm

not hard to do and although I would personally never use it, it does make sense for the tournament people hehe

Trylk1138  |  November 23rd, 2010 at 6:31 am

Controllers already do this when they’re synced to another PS3.

SSRGohan  |  December 26th, 2010 at 2:16 pm

this is a great idea! i was just looking into how to do the remove the sync and i stumble into this page, I need the option because im always turning on the wrong playstation in my house and then i have to leave my room and go to living room to shut off the playstation (now days i have it memorize how to turn off without looking at it, thats how bad i need this option) PLEASE SONY GET ON THIS NOW!! haha just kidding love you ps3!

Jojo_Jojovich  |  March 12th, 2011 at 3:26 am

Would you please add this feature?
