My understanding is that they update it as soon as they can on Thursdays. Are you saying that if they can’t get everything ready before a certain time they should hold off on that stuff until next week?

There already is a set time. Friday at 8am.

Sometimes it updates early.

I not only want an exact time, but an earlier time for the store to update as well.

And btw doesn’t the store update on Tuesdays now?

I really can’t think of any good reason why this hasn’t been put in place since the launch of the Playstation Store. I know that the store on the Wii always updates at noon (EST) on Mondays, and as far as I know Xbox Live Marketplace also updates at the same time every Wednesday.

And while the Playstation Store certainly has its advantages over those other two stores, constantly checking the store every Tuesday afternoon to find out if it’s been updated yet is NOT one of them.

Well judging by the comments above, the PS store already has a set time it updates:
Wednesday…
No, wait make that Thursday…
No, wait it’s now Tuesday…

hmmm, maybe a definitive weekday and time isn’t such a bad idea after all…

@7: It used to be Thursday for both US and EU, but at one point they changed it to Tuesday for US and Wednesday for EU.

Beyond that though, it can be any time. It could be Tuesday at 3 PM or Tuesday at 8 PM. It’s ridiculously inconsistent. Meanwhile, the Shop Channels on the Wii and DSi update at 12 PM EST on Monday, and the Xbox Live Arcade updates at 5 AM on Wednesday.

So why is Sony so far behind on this one? Is it that hard to set a deadline, or are the people who run the Playstation Store just really unorganized?

Normally I don’t care about when it updates and find it silly when people complain about it, but today we had to wait till ****ing 10PM.

I don’t see how it’s silly, #9. If people are anticipating getting their hands on some hot new DLC or game download that week, and they have to keep checking the store all day to see when it decided to update that week, it’s extremely frustrating and something customers shouldn’t have to deal with.

Imagine if you went to GameStop to buy a new retail game (also imagine GameStop isn’t crap and that you’d want to shop there). But instead of having the hours of operation posted clearly for people so they would know when they could come buy this new game, it was random and they just opened at whatever time they felt like that day. Maybe they open at 8AM. Maybe they open at noon. Maybe they decide they want to open at 7:22PM for whatever reason. And your only way to find out when they opened is to keep going back to the store all day and see if they finally opened so you can buy that game. Wouldn’t that piss you off? It would piss me off. And it does piss me off every Tuesday when I want some content and Sony does this to me.

Don’t we as customers deserve more respect from Sony than that?

And now it updated on Monday apparently! All the stuff that was supposed to be coming Tuesday (like Liars and Cheats for Red Dead Redemption) is already up with a date of 9-20 on it.

Seriously Sony, consistency is nice.

Seriously. How hard is it to set a time to have updates ready? So what if everything is not ready at once? Is it that hard to do incremental updates for the stuff that’s late and at least keep their customers out of the dark?

I don’t see how stuff can be late anyway. You set a deadline, and bam. People should be able to follow it. I can’t remember a time ever when I wanted something off WiiWare or Xbox Live Arcade, went to check the store at the time it updates, found that some stuff was there but not all of it, and the reason ending up being “Well the content didn’t get to us on time so we had to load it later.”

I mean, come on. This is a no brainer. Deadlines are not hard to set and keep. The idea has 300 yes votes (not a lot, until you compare it to the stuff on the “implemented ideas” that has a negative score and go WTF). And it’s just extremely poor customer service that any company, especially one that’s been around as long as Sony, should be ashamed of having.

The store update times coming at a different hour EVERY SINGLE WEEK is just ridiculous. Great comparison you make with GameStop opening at a random hour every day. For once, I agree with everything you have to say on this topic mjc. Hopfully more people will come here and support this request.

Over a year since this idea was posted and almost a year since the last comment was posted, and still nothing. Yes this idea doesn’t have a ton of votes or anything, but something this obvious shouldn’t need tons of votes to get attention. Sony should have done it by now out of simple respect for their customers.

Oh well, I guess I can always go buy non-exclusive titles on Steam, Xbox Live, Wii Shop Channel, and other outlets that care more about their customers.

Store updated on WEDNESDAY this week. This is truly pathetic. Deadlines are not this hard!
