Soul Calibur 4 Trophy Patch

Idea 19461 | Posted in by | May 27, 2010

Add a patch to Soul Calibur 4 that brings trophies. This would bring replayability.

I would go back and play it maybe even buy the dlc then

XenoNative  |  May 28th, 2010 at 12:47 am

this is why i never played the game. trophies would be i big plus.

GrooThePerverted  |  May 28th, 2010 at 3:24 am

I love this game, so much more than Tekken 6 or Street Fighter IV.

I wish they would get trophies in it, because it would just add to a very good game.

Plus I’d love for them to get Soul Calibur III as a PS2 Classic. 🙂

emanuevil81  |  May 28th, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Sc4 was a big delusion, maybe trophies could convince me to play the game…

KoruptDawg  |  May 28th, 2010 at 8:08 pm

I’m all for this but Namco Bandai won’t do it. They don’t care about the game anymore. Hell, they stopped caring as soon as the game hit the shelves. They gave us nothing but overpriced DLC that, $2 says, was probably already on disc. I’m not raggin on SCIV, I love SCIV, I think it’s an awesome game. Who I AM chewin out is Namco Bandai for being a bunch of [DELETED]. People have been askin for Trophies ever since Trophies were implemented on the PS3, and NB never said so much as “Yes/No”. Why? Because they clearly don’t [DELETED]! The only reason I’d get SCV (If there ever will be) is because they’d have no choice but to give us Trophies, since they’re now mandatory. I’m sorry if I may have upset some people but this needed to be said.

The problem is that while adding trophies would probably increase sales, it also costs time and money. The developers probably feel that it’s not worth the effort. And even if the increased sales more than made up for the cost of adding trophies, it’s still not quite that simple—there’s something called “opportunity cost”. Basically, that says that even if the developers make money adding trophies, they could have made MORE money by spending the time/resources of something else (like a new game)

FJ1100_rider  |  May 29th, 2010 at 3:04 pm

if a company supports it’s games and values it’s customers it will add trophy support and forget about any additional costs – just as a service to their customers
if games like fl0w and the last guy from a small developer are willing to patch for trophies there’s no reason why a big developer can’t add them for an older game – but then again those small developers are full of gamers who do it because they love it – and aren’t just run by corporate executives and accountants that may have never played a game since pong .

the main reason I can see they haven’t is because it wasn’t a huge selling game to begin with and they haven’t had any feedback asking for trophies – if a few thousand people started forums posts asking for it and they felt it would get more sales for an old game I’d bet trophies would be added .

Had no idea this game didnt have trophies haven’t gotten it yet. Quick question what the hell happened to Necrid did he die or something I thought he was bada$$. Would like to see him come back sorry little off topic but could never find out why he’s gone but trophies is a must!

AmnesiaInnocent  |  May 30th, 2010 at 7:14 am

People who develop games do so as a business.

It’s ridiculous to think that they would “forget about any additional costs”. Programmers don’t work for free…

Talgron  |  May 30th, 2010 at 3:57 pm

@ 11 That may be true but some of us still like to think they do it because they love games not because they love money.

nmccall  |  May 30th, 2010 at 7:11 pm

@12 People start work in games because they love games, but soon, after getting beat up one too many times, they do it mostly for the money.

THlEVlN  |  May 30th, 2010 at 11:49 pm

They should also include the additional weapons from Soul Calibur 3 that had the weapons of knife, kunni, chinese blade, and the fan. I really enjoy the knife and kunni especially in SC3. Also, how about bringing back Necrid from SC2? One of favorite characters. I was only able to beat most of SC2 cause of Necrid.

THlEVlN  |  May 30th, 2010 at 11:51 pm

Excellent addition with the Star Wars characters, really great game for them to be in, hope they stay in future versions.

FJ1100_rider  |  May 31st, 2010 at 11:00 am

yes , many companies are only interested in money but lots still put out trophy patches for older games because the buyers asked for it .,… they didn’t say ” Oh , that’s too much work for no money or not much chance of making more sales ”
they did it because they actually believe that that’s good business . if you support your games then there’s a possibility of more returns overall – people who wouldn’t buy a game without trophies might buy it now and customers who already bought it will replay it and through word of mouth you’d get exposure and then the next games you made would have a built in fanbase of buyers

if you simply abandon the game and don’t care you’ll make people who didn’t buy it definitely not buy another of your games and lots who did support the old game aren’t going to buy another one .
a few thousand dollars spent on a trophy patch now will pay off more later

You had me with the extra weapon sellections from SC3. I miss using Katana+Shuriken & Wave Blades. I will also add that the Character Creation was superior in SC3 than 4.

Necrid was a guest character, and unfortunetly, all guest characters don’t come back. The closest you can get is with Algol. I, personally, can’t stand him.

I only liked Darth Vader out of the SC4 guests. The Apprentice was way to cheap, and I didn’t like the restriction we had going against Yoda. Yoda is cool, he kicks ass, but he didn’t make a great SC character. They should of had Mace Windu or someone that was actually tall.

CDubyahS  |  May 31st, 2010 at 7:11 pm

all greatest hits games must have trophies but how did this make greatest hits?darth vader n yoda n trophies belong in the force unleashed not this tripe

My Comment’s been “Awaiting moderation” and now it’s finally been posted. It’s Comment #8. I wish they didn’t “Delete” the 2 parts I had. For those who care, the 1st “[Deleted]” is a nasty way of saying “They’re lazy”. And the 2nd “[Deleted]” is another nasty way of saying “They don’t care”.

Talgron  |  June 17th, 2010 at 5:31 am

I haven’t been to pleased with Namco Bandai either lately no Vesperia for NA ps3 users has almost completely turned me off from Namco Bandai but come on Namco Bandai E3 isnt over yet announce NA ps3 Vesperia and i’ll welcome you back into my loving arms and i’ll completely excuse no trophies for SCIV

obelisk2049  |  July 11th, 2010 at 11:52 pm

Well, everyone’s saying, “Oh, it costs too much.” or “They won’t work for free.” Then explain to me why XBOX360 has achievements for this game?!

NinjaTofu-x  |  July 13th, 2010 at 11:32 pm

That game needs trophies…that why i never really play it online anymore

tweakleton  |  September 21st, 2010 at 2:15 am

I’d buy it if it had trophies, otherwise it doesn’t seem overly appealing to me. Sad to say, but trophies determine whether I buy a game or not.

illrus  |  February 23rd, 2011 at 8:52 pm

I would love to have some trophies for that game i love it and trophies just make it more awesome

hellkt  |  March 8th, 2011 at 9:39 pm

I really would like to buy this game but without the trophies it makes hard to decide.

CALLI---  |  December 26th, 2011 at 6:47 am

Before the trophies, they shoud put a penalty for the jerks who disconnect on purpose while losing.
