PS4 remote control

Idea 78857 | Posted in , by | April 28, 2015

How about a remote to control all this media? I want full Harmony support (Bluetooth is fine with the harmony hub like on PS3).

This would be a huge addition, even more so with PlayStation Vue turning the the system into the cable box of the future. What better way to help make it an easy transition than to give people something they are already comfortable with.

I use the flirc. It requires a computer and technical know how to get it set up right on the ps4 and it won’t work with the new Media Player App or Hulu as neither of those support keyboard control (I’m desperately hoping sony addresses this issue on the Media Player app) It works amazingly with blu rays and the Netflix app I don’t live in a Vue area so can’t say whether it works for that or not.

Sony really needs to address this. The current workarounds usually hoping you have a very modern tv with hdmi-cec capability or buy a new tv or overly expensive logitech harmony. These are not good solutions. The PS3 had a simple, efficient, and cost effective remote. It was one of the best things I ever bought for my Playstation and was one fo the things that really sold me on Sony and the playstation. It is border line inexcusable that Sopny has not created a remote for the PS4. We’re not asking for an all in one remote that does everything and makes a cup of coffee too. Just a simple and efficient remote that can turn the system on or off and can nevigate all the media options. Basically, take a controller and put it in the format of a remote. That’s all.

Sony have announced a BD remote for some time soon. Do we think that will do at least some of this?

be nice if there was a vita app to turn it’s touch screen into a blue ray remote.
