Digital trade-ins

Idea 79030 | Posted in , by | May 25, 2015

Why not have a trade in system to have for digital games? Trade in towards games, get rewards points for the games, they get playstation credit, Review for trade-ins

This is stupid. It’s not a “trade in”, you just want money for games that you no longer play. Digital doesn’t work that way. If you want to resell games, then buy disks. Otherwise, you aren’t getting any money back.

I actually like entertaining the idea of some kind of digital trade system. I think the idea of trading back games you just don’t play or like is unrealistic, but what about games that you are certain to not play again? For example, I have a number of platinum trophies (bloodborne and D3 to name a few). Once I have totally completed a game it is practically useless to me. It would be nice to have a system set up for completed games where you could sell back your digital rights to the game for something like 25% of the current digital cost and have the amount deposited into your ps store wallet for future use.

I DONT SEE IT AS FEASIBLE TO GIVE REFUNDS ON DIGITAL ITEMS, BUT*** IF YOUR GONNA GET A DIGI COPY U CANT TRADE-SELL-RETURN, YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO PAY RETAIL $$$ FOR IT, I MEAN, THEY DONT HAVE TO SPEND $$$ ON PACKAGING SHIPPING AND OTHER INCIDENTALS, WE SHOULD GET A PRICE BREAK FOR THIS

But it a good idea so if friend want a game that download is on your ps4 your able to trade your games for there it not a bad idea really unless you like keep your games that are not good to you anymore.

Who would give you the money for the games? The original developer, like a partial refund once you’ve taken every ounce of entertainment you wanted? Or is Sony going to give you store credit to not play the game again? That just means they make less money on the next thing you buy.

It has nothing to do with wanting money but buying games that end up being pieces of absolute garbage and wanting to trade it in for another game that may not be an absolute piece of garbage, and if it ended up being so, you could trade it in again for another game..

This doesn’t make sense for… any digital distributor really. They have a near infinite supply. Getting the game (or any digital item) back from you gets them nothing. They only reason physical copies have trade-in value is because they are finite. Only a certain supply was made, and some people will by a used copy if they can get it cheaper than a new copy and it works the same. There really isn’t a used digital copy. There are just copies. Endless copies.

This isn’t a bad idea. I wouldn’t say get a lot of the trade in. Maybe 10-20% of the original digital sale price. There are a few games I probably won’t play anymore that I would trade in.
