This feature should be available for all video applications on PS4. It would also be great to be able to browse the web while watching Videos.

Like the iPad Air 2 with iOS 9, why not PiP (Picture in Picture)! +1

You might be able to do it with YouTube Red. It’s a new service that allows you to download anything, and I mean anything, from YouTube to watch offline. It also removed the ads. And it allows you to minimize YouTube on various devices and play in the background.

Excellent idea, and as previously mentioned in another comment, not just YouTube but all video apps.

We need this feature sony. It would make the ps4 even more awesome than the competition.

That would be cool except you should of voiced your idea earlier. With 8GB of RAM, Sony has set the PlayStation 4 console with what they think is enough RAM to support gaming, background actions, cache, continuously video recording, and etc. With the console not being set up for easy RAM upgrade by us, the consumers, there is just no way to have that feature without causing problems. Now, I may be wrong, don’t quote me exactly on this. We do have the capability of running more than one app at once such as Black Ops III, Netlfix, and media player all running at the same time for ease of switching between them. Not all apps can do that, some may need to close while others may need to be suspended. Considering this feature after launch and not when the PlayStation 4 was in development, would consists of more evaluations than you may think. Hardware compatibility would be a big one, determining if all consoles would be able to support such power like that without causing other features like simultaneous video recording to pause or stop working when in use, or worse, freezing and slow downs. notification along with the “Not Available” status option.

This could work by allowing the browser to overlay on the game, or browser functions in the quick menu with an option to play game in a resized window while quick menu is open. Great for accessing walkthroughs!
